The Senior Business Analyst acts as a liaison between external customers and internal support services. They assist with IT changes and manage incidents and service requests related to application operations or client project activities. Additionally, they help drive resource alignment toward operational results in systems, platforms, and applications. This role places a heavy emphasis on writing detailed business requirements and performing functional testing in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team. The position is primarily focused on the TAI annuity administration platform and requires strong annuity-specific knowledge.

What you will do

  • Lead sessions with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements.

  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and user stories.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to design solutions that meet business objectives.

  • Assess the impact of proposed changes on existing processes and systems.

  • Ensure compliance with annuity product-specific requirements.

  • Validate system changes against annuity administration best practice.

  • Document the clients’ business needs in the form of user stories

  • Conduct grooming sessions with full team (users, developers dba’s, needed IT partners, etc.); Facilitate technical grooming session with development team to document technical support stories

  • Evaluates new or enhanced solutions to determine potential issues and communicates how problems may affect business and recommends solutions.

  • Assist with prioritizing work within an iteration and targeted release.

  • Create defect and enhancement items to be added to the backlog, collaborate with software engineer for mutual understanding

  • Provide continuous feedback to the development/QA team to ensure automated testing meets expected results

  • Conducts structured walkthroughs of requirements with business and project team members.

  • Mentors and coaches teammates. Provides oversight and direction regarding resolution of production issue

  • Creates and effectively presents business processes and technical diagrams  to a wide audience for shared understanding

  • Assists in evaluation of business requests to determine feasibility, researches and identifies options.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent work experience - Required

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) - Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in annuity administration, with a strong understanding of annuity products, processes, and regulatory requirements - Required

  • 5+ years of experience as an analyst documenting complex processes and systems - Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates working competency of technology stack associated with project solutions - Required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects - Required

  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong data analysis skill. Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions - Required

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions. Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability - Required

  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously. Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables - Required

  • Ability to foster customer service as needed. Intermediate negotiating and persuasion skills - Required

  • Basic SQL query writing skills and other technical acumen - Required

  • Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge - Required

  • Requirements management tool experience (Azure DevOps or others) - Required

Compensation Range:

$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
