About the Role Are you a relentlessly curious technologist who thrives in the fast-moving, ambiguous landscape of modern AI? As a Principal Software Engineer on the HPE Innovation team, you will be the technical visionary leading the development of cutting-edge AI and agentic solutions. In this role, you will lead a diverse group of passionate engineers to transform how developers work, pushing the boundaries of Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-agent workflows to build the next generation of our core products.
Leadership & Core Responsibilities
- Technical Visionary & Leader: Act as a force multiplier for the team, mentoring engineers, driving open-source contributions, and fostering a continuous-learning culture.
- Bias for Experimentation: Lead with a bold, prototyping-first mindset to rapidly build, evaluate critically, and scale innovative AI solutions in an ever-evolving tooling landscape.
- Agentic AI Pioneer: Architect and orchestrate multi-agent workflows (orchestrator/specialist patterns) utilizing modern frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, PydanticAI,Google ADK) and protocol Agent-to-Agent (A2A).
- Advanced AI Architecture: Design and optimize scalable LLM systems, sophisticated Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques, and Graph RAG architectures.
- Context Engineering & Integration: Master how LLMs reason by managing complex context windows, system prompts, and agent skills. Develop and deploy Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for seamless enterprise data integration.
- Engineering Excellence: Champion software engineering best practices (TDD, CI/CD, comprehensive testing) to transition bold prototypes into highly robust, enterprise-grade products.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Engineering Experience: 5+ years in software and AI/ML engineering, with proficiency in at least two modern languages (Python, Node, Go, etc.). Deep knowledge of ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Agentic & LLM Frameworks: Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI, AutoGen, or similar tools.
- Data & Cloud Mastery: Proven experience implementing scalable vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate, FAISS) and strong knowledge of cloud AI services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Prompt & Context Engineering: Deep understanding of context window management, MCP server development, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning methodologies.
Bonus Skills & Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with prompt engineering evaluations (evals, red-teaming).
- Familiarity with LLMOps tools (LangSmith, Weights & Biases, MLflow) and enterprise-scale AI monitoring.
- Deep understanding of AI safety, alignment, and responsible AI practices.
- Active contributions to the open-source AI/ML community.
