You work in Mondelēz International Digital Services to lead in the development of tools, frameworks and skills that ensure the effective delivery of the experience strategy for a specific process area (which could be in sales, finance, marketing, customer service and logistics, procurement, HR, etc.). You also work with other service operations employees to ensure they are using processes and tools to ensure an impeccable customer experience.
How you will contribute
As a subject matter expert (SME) for processes in your area, you will provide input to capability-building materials and toolkits to ensure adherence to defined processes and to identify opportunities for the development of standard tools, automation, digitization and application for processes in line with group priorities and strategy. In addition, you will monitor key performance indicators to ensure they are aligned to strategic objectives and provide feedback to develop global capability. In this role, you will also audit and manage change controls and keep track of issues and actions to ensure they are addressed on a timely basis. Working with other teams, you will manage issue escalations. As an SME, you not only understand, but keep abreast of industry-wide best practices in your area.

The Position
The Metadata Governance Expert serves as a supportive strategic and technical role in advancing our Enterprise Data Catalog capabilities and Metadata management practices. Reporting to the Metadata Governance Capability Lead, this role combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision to architect, implement, and optimize metadata governance frameworks that ensure enterprise data becomes Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).
Key Responsibilities
  • Catalog Maintenance and execution: Support the delivery and completion of the enterprise data catalog by actively inputting, reviewing, and maintaining metadata assets, ensuring adherence to established Governance standards and policies.

  • Data Lineage & Documentation: Facilitate sessions and perform the hands-on work to identify and document critical data sets, data lineage, business rules, and scorecards directly within the Data Catalog.

  • Governance Framework Development: Design and enforce metadata governance frameworks, including data quality rules, stewardship workflows, and compliance controls that scale across the enterprise while maintaining flexibility for business unit needs.

  • Enterprise Adoption & Change Management: Develop and execute enterprise-wide adoption strategies for metadata governance, leading change management initiatives, creating training materials, and establishing centers of excellence to drive cultural transformation around data literacy.

  • Cross-Enterprise Collaboration & Influence: Partner with senior leadership across MDS, D&A, IT, and business functions to align metadata governance with strategic initiatives, influence data architecture decisions, and break down organizational silos through collaborative governance models.

  • Leadership & Innovation: Drive continuous innovation in metadata management practices, staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements while contributing to the organization's data governance maturity roadmap.

  • Mentorship & Capability Building: Mentor data analysts, stewards, and governance team members, building organizational capability through knowledge transfer, documentation of best practices, and development of reusable frameworks and accelerators.

Knowledge, Experience and Education
Required:
  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, or Enterprise Data Architecture, with demonstrated expertise in complex, global organizations

  • Expert-level proficiency with enterprise data catalog and governance platforms (e.g., Ataccama ONE, Collibra, Informatica, Alation) including implementation, customization, and optimization

  • Understanding of data base, data warehouse and data modeling concepts

  • Experience in enterprise-wide governance initiatives with measurable business impact

Preferred:
  • Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA ecosystems and ERP data governance

  • Background in consumer goods, retail, or manufacturing industries with understanding of domain-specific data challenges

  • DAMA CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)

  • Experience with data governance in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
