This position is responsible for maximizing ad sales inventory by analyzing reports and data that provide critical business intelligence and by making recommendations to the Leadership Team. This includes execution and deployment of inventory and pricing strategies that vary by sales channel to ensure maximum benefit to Cox Media. This is an analyst level role with significant responsibility for optimizing yield management of Cox Media's advertising products and reports to the Inventory Manager.
Productive professional contributor with strong understanding of media sales/analyses. Assigned to larger, moderately complex projects. Work requires increasing independence; guidance typically given on unusual or complex issues. Work involves periodic review of output by others.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In concert with the Inventory Manager, presents data and provides recommendations to sales leadership for their use in the development and utilization of best practices and tools necessary to maximize the value of Cox Media advertising products in a dynamic market environment.
- Under guidance and direction of Inventory Manager, executes rate adjustments and inventory allocation changes as needed.
- Develops and maintains historical database of high-profile inventory for trending, pricing analysis and forecasting.
- Analyzes historical performance and helps create program-related sponsorships in coordination with sales, research, and marketing departments.
- Compiles and distributes accurate and timely inventory updates and trending for high value sports inventory to sales department.
- Ensures data integrity for reporting, including identifying and troubleshooting issues.
- Evaluates inventory demands against availability to assist sales consultants and support with pre-clearing proposals and make-good options if inventory will not clear.
- Provides input to leadership on operational issues and process improvements.
- Communicates between sales, sales support, inventory, and centralized fulfillment.
SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Communications, Marketing, Business Operations) and 4 years of experience in Media Inventory/Yield Management, Broadcast Traffic Management, or Media Sales Operations. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years of experience; or a Ph.D. or Doctorate's degree and 1 year of experience; or 8 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Microsoft Office Suite applications with intermediate knowledge in Excel and media sales processes.
- Exceptional written, verbal, collaboration, analytical problem-solving and follow up skills to collaborate effectively with teams throughout organization.
- Proven ability to execute under pressure. Must be able to work independently and deliver measurable results.
- Must be a collaborator that thrives in a challenging environment with competing or often changing priorities and meets deadlines.
- Shows commitment to self-development by demonstrated desire to learn new ways of doing business, staying abreast of competitors/industry major initiatives.
- Successful experience using XGLinear or other broadcast traffic software, TIM, and Strata
PREFERRED
- Multi-station or multi-market broadcast or cable television a strong plus.
- Experience in broadcast and/or cable sales operations or inventory/yield management highly preferred.
USD 79,400.00 - 119,000.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $79,400.00 - $119,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
