Lead Quality Automation Engineer
Role SummaryWe are looking for a hands-on Lead Quality Automation Engineer to own and drive Quality Strategy for enterprise products.
This role combines strong technical automation expertise with leadership responsibilities, including defining and implementing Quality Strategy, mentoring QEs, and influencing release quality decisions.
The candidate is expected to contribute actively to coding (40–60%) while providing technical and strategic direction to the QA function.
Key Responsibilities- Define and implement end-to-end Quality Strategy across UI, API, and non-functional layers.
- Establish automation roadmap and quality KPIs.
- Establish and enforce a Test Pyramid model, ensuring optimal balance across unit, API, integration, and UI automation.
- Drive shift-left practices and increase automation coverage at lower layers.
- Define and track QA KPIs (automation coverage, defect leakage, regression stability).
- Drive release readiness reviews and risk assessments.
- Influence engineering teams to adopt quality best practices.
- Architect and implement/modify scalable automation frameworks using Java / Advanced Java.
- Good hands-on knowledge of integrating automation tests in CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement / Knowledge of contract testing using OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Mentor and review automation engineers’ code.
- Provide technical guidance and framework standards.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and DevOps stakeholders.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot) to enhance development efficiency.
- Hands-on knowledge of prompting techniques to improve automation productivity.
- Strong proficiency in Java & Advanced Java
- Hands-on experience with Selenium automation framework
- REST API automation using RestAssured / HttpClient
- Strong understanding of JSON, HTTP protocols, and status codes
- SQL/database validation
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD integration (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins)
- Experience tracking QA KPIs and quality dashboards (e.g., Grafana)
- Agile/Scrum experience
AI & Engineering Productivity
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar).
- Ability to craft effective prompts to generate, refactor, and optimize automation code.
- Experience validating and refining AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, maintainability, and security.
- Demonstrated ability to improve engineering productivity using AI tools.
- 10+ years in QA with significant automation experience
- Proven hands-on framework development experience
- Ability to contribute 40–60% in active coding
