The Role
Senior finance leader owning FP&A, forecasting, reporting, and financial strategy. Build and lead the FP&A team, create automation and AI-enabled workflows, enable strategic decision-making with cross-functional partners, manage OpEx and vendor contracts, and support modeling for new business and transactions.
Summary Generated by Built In

*This role is open to remote or hybrid candidates, with hybrid being central to our New York, NY or Charlotte area offices. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Bankrate is looking for the right leader to build the finance function its next chapter demands. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior finance role at a company in genuine transformation: a 50-year-old brand with a clear strategic vision, a strong EBITDA foundation, and an aggressive growth agenda. You’ll be the most senior finance leader inside Bankrate, reporting directly to the COO and serving as the primary financial partner to the executive leadership team.

This role is designed to grow — in scope, complexity, and title — for someone who earns it. If you’re a high-energy finance leader who has built teams, created process from scratch, and thrives in environments where the stakes are high, this is your seat.

What You’ll Do:

Lead Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Own Bankrate’s financial planning, forecasting, and reporting — delivering clear, accurate, and timely insights to the COO, CEO, and executive leadership team
  • Drive quarterly and annual forecast processes with disciplined emphasis on variance analysis, business drivers, and forward-looking performance
  • Partner directly with our parent company’s CFO and finance functions — including Accounting and Procurement — as Bankrate’s primary financial point of contact; you’ll represent Bankrate’s financial story confidently and autonomously in those conversations
Build and Lead the Team
  • Lead and develop the FP&A team with a strong emphasis on mentorship, analytical rigor, and continuous process improvement
  • Create the infrastructure, systems, and discipline needed for a best-in-class finance function — including documentation, automation, and AI-enabled workflows
  • As Bankrate’s ambitions and scope evolve, build out the finance function accordingly — expanding capabilities and capacity to meet the business where it’s going, not just where it is today
Enable Strategic Decision-Making
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the COO and leadership team on everything from headcount decisions to enterprise partnership economics to long-range planning
  • Translate financial data into crisp, confident narratives that drive decisions — not reports that sit on a shelf
  • Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, and Product to ensure financial intelligence is embedded in how the business operates day-to-day
Drive Cost Discipline and Financial Strategy
  • Own OpEx management, including expense owner mapping, vendor and contract negotiations, and renewal oversight
  • Identify and execute on cost savings opportunities; proactively surface risks and opportunities in the business’s financial trajectory
  • Build modeling infrastructure to support new business lines, enterprise deals, and evolving revenue streams

What We’re Looking For:

  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5+ years leading finance teams (ideally 5–10 staff, or more)
  • Exceptional communication skills — you can hold a sophisticated financial conversation with a CFO, break down a complex forecast for an operator, and present to an executive team with clarity and confidence
  • Proven track record as a builder — you’ve built finance functions, not just worked within them. That means designing processes from scratch, developing and elevating team members, and creating the infrastructure a growing business needs to operate with financial clarity and discipline
  • Deep FP&A expertise: financial modeling, variance analysis, forecasting, and business partnering
  • Experience guiding a finance function through a significant corporate event — M&A, a capital raise, a sale process, or similar
  • Experience overseeing or coordinating with accounting functions; CPA not required, but financial literacy across all aspects of financial performance — not just P&L — is essential
  • Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth, or PE-backed environments where priorities shift and resourcefulness matters
  • High energy, low ego, and genuine enthusiasm for the growth opportunity this role represents

Nice to have:

  • Experience at or exposure to a digital media, marketplace, or fintech company

Compensation:

This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.

  • Total Cash Compensation Range: $230,000 - $350,000 per year

*New York City Total Cash Compensation Range: $287,500 - $437,500

Additionally, the following benefits are provided by Red Ventures, subject to eligibility requirements.

  • Health Insurance Coverage (medical, dental, and vision)
  • Life Insurance
  • Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Holiday Pay
  • 401(k) with match
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid Parental Bonding Benefit Program
  • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO): We believe time to rest and recharge is essential.  That’s why we offer a generous and flexible PTO policy.  Full-time employees accrue 20 days of PTO for a full calendar year annually, with an increase to 25 days after five years of service.

Who We Are:

Bankrate is where Americans go to get the best price on life's most important financial decisions. By combining proprietary data, advanced technology, and deep market coverage, Bankrate helps consumers compare options and make confident financial choices across mortgages, credit cards, savings, and more. As a rate provider to the Federal Reserve and the benchmark relied upon by major publishers and policymakers nationwide, Bankrate's rate data is the national standard. This commitment to precision is reflected across all its products. In mortgages, proprietary auction technology puts lenders in real-time competition on price alone, consistently delivering rates in the lowest 10% in the country. For deposits, the platform features exclusively top-tier rates in the top 10% nationally, while its credit card coverage encompasses more than 90% of the market by volume. Founded by a journalist, Bankrate remains dedicated to its founding mission of transparency, honest information, and real competition — helping to make the American dream more affordable for everyone.
