We are looking for a bright, inquisitive Business Analyst to join a world-class group of industry experts and data scientists to extract insights from information and put them to good use. This [newly created] position is responsible for gathering, analyzing and delivering market-level business intelligence to support the development and implementation of our U.S. Financial Services vertical business strategy and operating plan. To be successful in this position, you must have a strong analytic aptitude, proven capability to generate charts and dashboards, strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively.
The Team’s Focus
Beyond the traditional business of furnishing credit reports to lenders, TransUnion provides financial institutions in both mature and emerging markets with data and solutions to enhance and support their customer relationships. We have a large, diverse client base ranging from national banks and credit unions to small, independent lenders. We offer a broad array of solutions customized to each aspect of our clients’ business including credit risk management, digital marketing, fraud and ID management, and collections and recovery.

The U.S. Financial Services vertical has a dynamic blend of experiences in financial services and credit risk management. As our team grows, we are looking for innovative and diverse talent to help us develop deep customer and market expertise to inform solution development and accelerate our growth. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
How You’ll Contribute
- Directs subordinates to complete objective based assignments.
- Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established guidelines and recommends changes to policies and established procedures that affect the immediate team.
- Accountable for budget, performance and results of small team of professional employees.
- Investigate and report on complex data interactions to help identify and address our clients’ key strategic business opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret results of reports and models created to translate data into and create comprehensive, actionable solutions for our clients.
- Effectively and accurately communicate analytical results and strategic implications within the context of a broader business setting.
- Conduct general market research activities by gathering and synthesizing primary and secondary information to provide a broader understanding of the organization, our customers and business partners and the market dynamics in the industries we serve
- Extract, normalize and segment data from large datasets and databases (e.g., billing systems, sales data, depersonalized credit data, etc.) leveraging SQL and business intelligence tools.
- Analyze revenue of customers and business segments to identify trends and/or market conditions impacting our business
- Evaluate market trends and expansion opportunities and translate analytical findings into insightful, succinct and compelling communications and business presentations
- Prepare financial analysis to support financial forecasting and investment business cases
- Complete ad-hoc analysis and benchmarking on existing customer accounts and prepare reports for internal and external distribution
- Create financial, sales and operational reports for Financial Services management
- Help to cultivate an environment that promotes excellence, innovation, and a collegial spirit
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously and deal with changing requirements and deadlines
Required Knowledge And Experiences
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a related role with demonstrated experience completing market research, performing financial analysis and preparing business communications and presentations
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with demonstrated experience extracting insights from large datasets
- Aptitude leveraging business intelligence tools and writing intermediate SQL queries for data extraction
- Familiarity with R, Python or SAS or other data mining or statistical software is desired
- Proficiency building reports and graphics, with experience leveraging data visualization tools, such as Tableau, preferred
- Advanced experience with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint to carry out and communicate the results of analysis
- BS or advanced degree in statistics, industrial engineering, mathematics, economics, computer science, finance, or related field
- A track record of outstanding academic performance
- High level of English language proficiency in both verbal and written dimensions
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and contribute to multiple assignments simultaneously with evolving deadlines.
- Ability to manage, develop, and motivate other associates
