Team Overview
Dynamics of the RoleAs a member of the Global Technology practice, this Information Technology Developer role will participate in the design and development of complex applications. The role is also responsible for helping to define, implement and enforce standards and best practices across the department.

The Application Development and Design team supports TransUnion’s global business and consumer systems by improving the efficiency of business operations, applications, and operating systems. As a Senior Software Developer in the Consumer team, you’ll be using your knowledge and enthusiasm of modern engineering practices to help build new features for one of TransUnion UK flagship products. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
How You Will Contribute
- Partner with global TransUnion technical teams to build products and features aligned to the Consumer roadmap using agreed technologies & tooling, working closely with the Tech Lead and UK based Software Architect & Test Lead
- Actively participate with the UK development team using an agile approach. Delivering code with consistency, quality and aligned with community best practices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional technology teams.
- Ensure TransUnion design patterns, frameworks, and architectural standards are implemented consistently within the work delivered.
- Take accountability for quality of the code and the effectiveness of the solution in production ensuring code is well-structured, maintainable and components delivered are testable.
- Work with tech lead to ensure you have a clear understanding of the design of new products or feature enhancements/changes to existing products.
- Help encourage a culture of continuous improvement to enable process and team maturity improvement.
- Mentor, assist and support less experienced colleagues as required.
- Participate in quality assurance to ensure products are fit for purpose and meet regulation.
What You Will Bring
- 5-8 years’ commercial experience of software engineering.
- A passion for software engineering, high standards and the delivery of testable code
- Experience of using a test driven approach to software engineering.
- Experience developing complex systems
- Curiosity for new technologies and techniques, and for keeping yourself up to date
- Experience of automated tests, builds and deployment
- Strong understanding of version control practices
- A good understanding and competency with release pipelines
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with stakeholders to seek answers and additional information from initial minimum information.
- Ability to capture and analyse requirements.
- Ability to plan and document a proposed solution.
- The ability to problem solve
- Experience of knowledge sharing and mentoring more junior colleagues
Essential Skills
- Experience in C# and supporting frameworks.
- Experience in full framework ASP.Net API and Web sites
- Experience in Asp.Net Core APIs
- Experience in test automation frameworks such as NUnit, SpecFlow, Selenium
- Experience in the setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines. Git, TFS, Octopus Deploy.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
Desirable skills
- Experience in JavaScript frameworks. React and/or Vue, plus Jest.
- Experience in SQL server
- Experience in Azure
- Experience in microservice architecture and maintenance
- Experience of working in Scrum/Kanban Agile teams.
- Experience of automated testing and deployment.
