Job Overview:
The R&D Department is made up of different disciplines including software and database engineers, quality, technical implementation. R&D designs and develops requested product features, fixes bugs within our platform, provides technical analysis and estimation, ensures successful integration installations, manages and monitors the health of our platform, and develops automation and tooling for efficient and reliable software development processes. R&D works cross-functionally with many other departments in the organization as a team to fulfill Findhelp’s mission of connecting all people in need with dignity and ease.
As a software engineer at Findhelp, you will help grow our platform which knits together our system of social-services nationwide. You will be on a cross-functional development team working across the aisle with others in teams and departments to produce the highest quality product for those who use our system.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Design and Implement full-stack features from initial concept through deployment, prioritizing an intuitive and efficient end-user experience.
Contribute to the technical design and architecture of features within the team’s scope, focusing on scalability, security, and maintainability.
Deliver high-quality, well-tested code and engage in rigorous peer code reviews and pair programming to uphold team standards.
Take full ownership of features, including monitoring in production, diagnosing issues, and driving iterative improvements post-launch.
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the ongoing health of the platform.
Proactively identify and resolve technical or process blockers to keep project timelines on track.
Uphold and improve team engineering standards (linting, testing, documentation) to ensure a high-quality, professional development environment.
Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Designers, and other engineering teams in a highly cross-functional environment.
Identify opportunities to refactor and modernize existing, high-value codebases to contribute to platform health.
Qualifications
3+ years working as a professional software developer.
Clear technical communication and documentation skills.
Preferred experience in Python and ReactJS.
Good understanding of SQL, ORMs, and non-relational databases.
Experience with microservices or a strong understanding of their architecture.
Proven ability to generalize a feature to widen its impact across the platform.
Comfortable working independently in a complex codebase and scaling up on Python if needed.
Knowledge of how to iterate on a feature to keep delivery consistent.
Interested in mentoring and fostering individual growth within the team.
Able to communicate technical needs and solutions clearly to product partners.
