Director, Underwriting

Currently seeking an experienced Underwriting Director who will be responsible for acquiring and retaining profitable property and casualty accounts with our Mid-Atlantic agency partners.  The selected candidate will manage an underwriting team and plan, direct and oversee the Underwriting function for the Georgia Branch Office in accordance with corporate and regional goals for production, profitability, retention and policyholder service. This position is a hybrid role in our Mid-Atlantic office in Glen Allen, VA.

The salary range for this position is $141,236-$217,503 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications Experience Required * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; NOTE - Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education * Minimum of eight years commercial, multi-line, P&C marketing and underwriting experience, including workers’ compensation * Three years management experience leading an Underwriting team * Relevant experience managing and developing the skills of commercial underwriting staff * Excellent knowledge of the independent agency system * Hands-on underwriting technical experience * Excellent relationship building skills Preferred * Industry designations are preferred Equal Opportunity Employer
