This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

   

The Director of Sustainability Innovation and Solutions will define and execute HPE’s sustainable technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, customer requirements, market trends, and emissions reduction targets. The role will require engaging with stakeholders across the business, building partnerships, and catalyzing internal teams to drive the adoption of sustainable practices across HPE’s portfolio in order to secure HPE’s position as a leader in sustainable technology solutions.

The role resides within the Living Progress organization (Sustainability Office), which guides the company’s sustainable business strategy, and will partner closely with members of the sustainability team as well as with leaders in business units and supply chain to drive and influence the company’s sustainable tech strategy.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and Roadmap Development:
    • Define, evolve, and drive the strategy for HPE’s sustainable technology roadmap, aligning the business and integrating with HPE’s organizational objectives to ensure successful sales, customer adoption and preference, and measurable environmental reductions attributed to our portfolio.
    • Hold multi-year vision for the company’s sustainable technology portfolio, rooted in market trends and customer requirements, to meet evolving customer demands and win our fair share of the market for sustainable technology solutions and services across key areas of HPE’s portfolio.
  • Sustainability Innovation & Product Development:
    • Partner with HPE business units, Labs, and external partners to pilot, refine, and bring to market new innovations, partnerships, and solutions that drive the decarbonization of customer IT estates and accelerate the adoption of clean energy within HPE’s value chain.
    • Catalyze the technical community to design product and service offerings with sustainability considerations as first-class design principles by equipping design and engineering teams with an understanding of the systemic implications of design choices.
    • Influence and define the methodologies, tooling, and measurement approaches to capture and surface environmental data related to HPE’s products and solutions, ensuring consistency, integrity, and transparency in external and internal data.
  • Leadership and Capability Building:
    • Lead a cross-functional executive steering committee to contribute to and execute against a comprehensive, pan-HPE roadmap for sustainable tech; set and refine the strategy for this committee and regularly brief HPE executives with key updates and decision-points.
    • Lead and mentor a small but high-impact team focused on driving sustainability innovation across the organization.
    • Serve internally and externally as a company expert and spokesperson on sustainable technology, contribute to thought leadership, and represent the company’s sustainable technology initiatives and viewpoints in key forums.

Qualifications:

  • Typically, 12+ years of experience with at least 5+ years driving highly visible cross-portfolio programs
  • Extensive technical and business acumen in HPE's product portfolio, preferably in a product management or related technical capacity
  • Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management with a proven ability to influence without authority
  • Technical acumen and understanding of breadth of HPE’s portfolio
  • Executive communication skills
  • Experience leading cross-cutting and transformational initiatives
  • Learning agility and aptitude
  • Sustainability expertise a bonus but not required (carbon accounting, materials science, LCA, environmental and ESG standards, etc.)

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $138,500.00 - $335,500.00
