- The Software Asset Management Professional maintains the smooth operation by performing moderately complex tasks, including monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing the organization's software assets throughout their lifecycle. With limited supervision, this job requires working closely with IT, procurement, finance, security, and vendors to ensure compliance, cost optimization
Key Accountabilities
- Software Asset Lifecycle Management: Own end-to-end software asset lifecycle management from request, deployment, usage, optimization, and retirement. Maintain accurate and audit-ready software inventories and entitlement records. Ensure effective software normalization and reconciliations
- License Compliance & Audit Management: Ensure ongoing compliance with software licensing agreements by identifying and remediating compliance gaps and over deployment risks
- Cost Optimization: Analyse software usage data to identify optimization and cost reduction opportunities, support contract renewals, license negotiations, and true-up planning with data-driven insights
- Tools & Data Management: Administer and operate SAM tools, ensure data accuracy across systems, and report for license compliance, deployment, and spend visibility
- Process & Continuous Improvement: Maintain and continuously improve SAM policies, standards, and operating procedures aligning with ISO/IEC 19770, ITIL and internal governance frameworks
Qualifications
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in IT or Computer Science from Tier 1 Engineering institute
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Software Asset Management
- Deep understanding of software licensing models and metrics (user, device, core, processor, subscription, BYOL, SaaS)
- Proven experience handling complex enterprise software estates and managing publisher audits independently
- Hands-on experience working with SAM tools such as Flexera, ServiceNow SAM Pro.
- Experience working on high-impact global projects, strategic initiatives, and change management initiatives
- Excellent communication and ability to work independently as an individual contributor and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Strong customer focus (internal and external), including the understanding of customer centric design and experience
- Extensive familiarity with SAM process implementation and certification(s) in SAM
- Familiarity with ITIL, ISO/IEC 19770, or SAM governance frameworks
- Demonstrated usage of best practices for managing process, data, and technology to deliver a great client experience
- Proficiency in Excel/Power BI or equivalent reporting tools
