The Legal Counsel will play a critical role in strengthening compliance and governance across all business units in the PHP. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, supporting strategic initiatives and business expansion, and minimizing legal risks across existing and new operations. The Legal Counsel will also serve as a key liaison between regional offices, Corporate Legal, regulatory bodies, and external counsel, ensuring consistent application of corporate policies and governance standards.What You'll Bring:
- Law Degree acquired from an Esteemed University
- qualified lawyer admitted to practice law in Philippines
- 5-10 years of solid experience with a reputable Law Firm or Multinational Business
- Experience in contract drafting is a must
- Knowledge in intellectual property, technology, data privacy, business and corporate laws is a must
- Knowledge in regional laws and company secretarial matters would be an advantage
- An adventurous spirit and an inquisitive mind: passion in innovation and courage to take on new challenges
- Ability to handle high demands and pressure with a positive attitude in a challenging environment.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills & commercially savvy
- Desire to learn new business and upskill legal knowledge
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated with minimal supervision
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
Impact You'll Make:
- Provide legal support for TransUnion Philippines strategic planning and implementation initiatives, including identifying and mitigating associated risks.
- Offer legal guidance for establishing new businesses in the Philippines, including drafting and reviewing partner contracts and advising on the formation of new TransUnion entities to support expansion.
- Support management and business units on all legal aspects of existing business operations in the region, ensuring full compliance with local laws and regulatory requirements while minimizing legal exposure.
- Review and serve as the gatekeeper for all company agreements to ensure alignment with corporate standards and legal requirements.
- Coordinate and engage with privacy commissioners, monetary authorities, banking associations, and other regulatory bodies in the region on matters relating to business operations.
- Act as the liaison between regional offices and Corporate Legal, ensuring clear communication and effective implementation of corporate initiatives related to business activities and corporate governance.
- Manage outside counsel, overseeing the delivery of legal advice and acting as the primary interface between external counsel and business units.
- Collaborate with the Compliance team in delivering comprehensive legal and compliance support to Philippines business operations.
- Strengthen corporate governance through training, staff awareness initiatives, and the promotion of a strong compliance culture.
