The Role

We are seeking an Applications Administrator to join our Corporate Applications team with a focus on Home Lending applications.

This role is responsible for the administration, reliability, configuration, integration, and continued operation of critical Home Lending technology, including Encompass 360, Blend, NICE inContact, SoFi-developed applications, and other corporate software platforms.

The Applications Administrator independently owns complex application workflows and serves as a technical resource for business and technology stakeholders. The role evaluates business requirements, designs and implements technical solutions, resolves complex escalations, improves existing processes and configurations, and identifies opportunities for automation and operational improvement.

This position requires independent judgment when making changes to business-critical systems where configuration, access, integration, or automation decisions may have significant operational, security, regulatory, or financial impact.

The ideal candidate is forward-thinking and hands-on, demonstrates strong technical judgment and ownership, and is comfortable solving problems where the appropriate solution may not be fully defined.

What You'll Do
  • Independently administer and support Encompass 360, Blend, and other Home Lending applications, including application configuration, business rules, workflows, security, user access, integrations, and ongoing platform maintenance.
  • Own complex application workflows and operational processes within the Home Lending application portfolio, ensuring systems remain reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Evaluate complex or ambiguous business and technical requirements, identify appropriate solutions, assess alternatives and risks, and independently implement solutions within established security and change management standards.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex application issues that cannot be resolved by the IT Service Desk or other frontline support teams. Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective or preventative solutions when appropriate.
  • Identify, design, and implement automation that reduces manual effort, improves reliability, strengthens controls, or improves the employee and business experience.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, APIs, integrations, and automated workflows supporting application administration, provisioning, deprovisioning, data management, and other operational processes.
  • Own and improve integrations between Home Lending platforms, internal SoFi applications, identity platforms, third-party vendors, and other enterprise systems.
  • Partner with Home Lending stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, identifying opportunities to improve existing workflows and system capabilities rather than relying solely on established procedures.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing application standards, procedures, configurations, and operational methods based on technical analysis, recurring issues, business requirements, and platform capabilities.
  • Assess operational, security, regulatory, and business risk associated with application changes and make appropriate day-to-day technical decisions independently, escalating when decisions carry unusual or significant cross-functional risk.
  • Lead technical execution for assigned application projects and initiatives, coordinating work across Corporate Applications, IT Service Desk, Identity and Access Management, Security, Network Engineering, Engineering, Product, Home Lending Operations, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Own application onboarding and technical enablement for investors, partners, servicers, vendors, and new Home Lending products, including configuration, access, integrations, testing, documentation, and production readiness.
  • Perform continual auditing of application configurations, privileged access, roles, permissions, security settings, and administrative controls to ensure alignment with company security and governance requirements.
  • Support and independently fulfill internal, external, regulatory, and SOX audit requests, working with stakeholders to resolve findings and strengthen application controls where needed.
  • Maintain application data integrity and security, including administration of application databases, data configuration, imports, exports, and other application-level data management responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, architecture references, support procedures, configuration standards, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Create and maintain policies, processes, and procedures aligned with security, risk, privacy, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, recommendations, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including stakeholders who may not be familiar with the underlying technologies.
  • Participate in platform planning and contribute technical recommendations regarding application roadmap, architecture, integrations, automation, lifecycle management, and operational improvements.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with peers and support teams, enabling appropriate issues and workflows to be resolved at lower support tiers where possible.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 2+ years of related professional experience in enterprise application administration, application support, systems administration, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience independently administering, configuring, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise or business-critical applications.
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage industry and loan origination lifecycle, including business rules, field triggers, milestone movement, workflows, and administrative configuration.
  • Experience with Encompass 360 administration, including business rules, application configuration, permissions, workflows, and Admin Tools or similar Loan Origination Systems.
  • Experience evaluating technical problems, gathering requirements, and selecting or developing solutions where existing procedures do not fully address the problem.
  • Experience with SSO, identity management, role-based access controls, and automated provisioning, including technologies such as Okta and SCIM.
  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, scripting, or automation technologies.
  • Working knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, C#, Visual Basic, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of application security, access governance, change management, audit controls, data protection, and risk management within enterprise environments.
  • Ability to make sound day-to-day technical decisions independently while recognizing circumstances that require broader stakeholder or leadership alignment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root-cause analysis across interconnected systems and workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Security, IAM, Operations, Product, IT, vendors, and business teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance operational support, project execution, technical debt, automation, security, and longer-term platform improvements.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality with a focus on continuously improving the reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency of assigned applications.
Nice to Have
  • Encompass Administrator certification or comparable mortgage technology certification.
  • Experience with ICE Encompass SDK and APIs.
  • Experience with Optimal Blue, Blend, Velocify, NICE inContact, Informative Research, Reggora, or other Home Lending technology platforms.
  • Experience administering enterprise platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, ServiceNow, Jira, Airtable, Lucid, or Smartsheet.
  • Experience designing or supporting API-based integrations and automated provisioning and deprovisioning workflows.
  • Experience working with Python or another programming language to develop production automation or application integrations.
  • Experience with enterprise identity and access technologies such as Okta, SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
  • Familiarity with endpoint management platforms such as Jamf and Intune.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment, particularly FinTech, financial services, lending, or banking.
  • Understanding of ITIL4 practices and enterprise change management processes.
  • Experience participating in or owning application controls associated with SOX, security, privacy, or regulatory audits.
