The Software Engineering - Formulation role provides hands-on engineering and application ownership for business-critical formulation and product-labeling applications used in animal nutrition. The role configures, maintains, troubleshoots, and improves commercial formulation software and its integrations with enterprise resource planning, manufacturing, and data platforms. It supports reliable application operation and global project delivery, including ERP implementations, formulation-system modernization, cloud migration, and integration with nutritional labeling tools. The role works with business users, solution architects, vendors, and technical support teams to deliver secure, maintainable solutions.
Key Accountabilities
APPLICATION OWNERSHIP & LIFECYCLE: Owns day-to-day technical operation of assigned formulation applications. Maintains service health and supports business value through incident, request, and problem management; application configuration and release coordination; vendor engagement; lifecycle, version, and retirement planning; and alignment with architecture, security, risk, and resiliency requirements. Provides application and integration support for associated product and nutritional labeling tools as needed.
APPLICATION ENGINEERING & CONFIGURATION: Performs hands-on application configuration, maintenance, testing, and controlled deployment of changes. Uses code or scripting where appropriate to troubleshoot, automate, or improve application processes, following sound engineering, version-control, testing, and release practices.
INCIDENT, PROBLEM & USER SUPPORT: Investigates and resolves application and interface issues, documents causes and corrective actions, and coordinates resolution with users, vendors, and technical support teams. Provides direct technical support in regions where external support coverage is unavailable.
INTEGRATION DESIGN & DELIVERY: Documents requirements, interfaces, data mappings, and dependencies; helps assess current and target-state designs; and supports integration testing and defect resolution. Contributes to integrations between formulation and nutritional labeling applications, ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, manufacturing systems, and cloud-based data lake and analytics platforms. Supports API-based, message-based, and file-based data exchange using approved patterns.
PROJECT & CLOUD DELIVERY: Contributes to global ERP implementations and formulation-system modernization, including requirements, solution assessment, integration mapping, testing, and deployment activities. Supports application migration to AWS and related cloud-foundation work.
TESTING, DOCUMENTATION & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Coordinates and executes system, integration, and user-acceptance testing; tracks defects through resolution; maintains application, support, and interface documentation; participates in peer review of code or configuration changes where applicable; and helps automate repeatable testing, deployment, and monitoring.
