Associate Director of Product, Marketing Technology
At Chewy, we strive to be the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents and our partners - vets and service providers - alike. Our success is measured by the happiness of the people and pets we serve, not simply by the amount of pet supplies we deliver. That's why we continue to think outside the Chewy box to delight, surprise, and thank our loyal pet lovers.
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking an Associate Director of Product, Marketing Technology, based in Boston, MA or Seattle, WA, to lead the vision and execution of the systems, data, and AI infrastructure that power our marketing engine. This leader will evolve Chewy's marketing technology ecosystem to drive automation, optimization, and measurable performance across channels.
What You'll Do
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for marketing technology capabilities across areas such as campaign operations, data pipelines, platform integrations, measurement, experimentation, planning, automation, and decision support.
- Translate complex marketing and business problems into scalable product requirements, system capabilities, and clear execution plans.
- Partner closely with engineering, data, applied science, marketing technology, and business stakeholders to evaluate tradeoffs across architecture, reliability, usability, speed, and long-term extensibility.
- Own roadmap prioritization for a substantial product area or set of related capabilities, balancing business impact, customer and stakeholder needs, technical debt, operational risk, and delivery constraints.
- Guide teams through ambiguous or evolving problem spaces by creating structure, decision frameworks, success metrics, and short- and mid-term execution plans.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or extend marketing technology capabilities so teams can move faster and operate with greater consistency.
- Define and track product and technical success metrics, including business performance, adoption, reliability, data quality, workflow efficiency, and experimentation outcomes.
- Influence senior stakeholders through crisp, data-driven communication that clarifies priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for marketing technology product strategy, helping teams make durable platform decisions that support current and future business needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor or internal platform capabilities where they can meaningfully improve marketing effectiveness, operational efficiency, or speed of execution.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; an advanced degree such as an MS or MBA is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in product management, technical product management, platform product management, marketing technology, adtech, data systems, or related technology domains.
- Proven success defining and scaling technical products or platforms that improve business performance, operational efficiency, customer experience, or team productivity.
- Strong understanding of marketing technology ecosystems, including data architecture, APIs and integrations, workflow automation, experimentation, attribution, measurement, and platform interoperability.
- Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs across systems, data, architecture, reliability, maintainability, and user experience in partnership with engineering and data teams.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative insights to identify customer, stakeholder, and operational pain points and translate them into product strategy.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to create clarity across technical and non-technical audiences and align teams through ambiguity.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect technology investments to business growth, marketing effectiveness, and long-term platform health.
- High ownership, strong judgment, and the ability to operate autonomously in complex, cross-functional environments.
