Electrical Engineering Intern will own a high-priority fusion-system project through planning, design, assembly, wiring, testing, and operation. The role provides hands-on experience developing experimental hardware and requires onsite full-time work for at least 12 consecutive weeks. Interns will apply electrical engineering fundamentals, circuit analysis, power systems, controls, signals, or embedded systems knowledge while documenting designs, building test setups, debugging hardware, and analyzing data.

Mechanical Engineering Interns will own high-priority projects through planning, mechanical design, assembly, and testing. The role provides hands-on experience with real fusion hardware and the full product lifecycle. Responsibilities include applying mechanical engineering fundamentals, stress analysis, CAD, design for manufacturing and assembly, prototyping, documentation, and test development. Interns must work onsite full time for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning between mid-May and mid-June 2027.

Supports inventory management for manufacturing and engineering, including receiving, stocking, cycle counts, reconciliation, material issuance, MES transactions, discrepancy resolution, and process documentation. Collaborates with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams while working onsite in production and warehouse environments.

Owns assigned manufacturing software systems end to end, including vendor relationships, licensing, user access, configuration, and workflow management. Partners with integration teams and the PLM Administrator to maintain component and BOM data quality, governance, and cross-system requirements. Designs and continuously improves manufacturing workflows, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates technical support. Requires enterprise software administration experience, PLM and BOM knowledge, data governance understanding, and strong collaboration skills.

Develops precision metrology and in-process inspection systems for fusion target components and assemblies. Designs inspection fixtures, analyzes micron-level measurements, establishes scalable metrology capabilities and data workflows, qualifies equipment, and integrates inspection processes into manufacturing operations. Collaborates with scientists, engineers, and technicians to resolve quality issues and improve fabrication yields.

Lead end-to-end mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, structural and thermal analysis, tolerance analysis, and system integration for complex fusion hardware. Translate physics requirements into robust components, apply DFM/DFA principles, prepare GD&T drawings and design reviews, and provide cross-functional technical leadership across physics, systems engineering, and manufacturing teams.

Designs and analyzes large high-performance vacuum seals for fusion pulser systems. Leads experimental design, testing, research, FMEA, tolerance analysis, test assembly development, system integration, supplier coordination, and technical documentation. Provides sealing subject-matter expertise, presents multidisciplinary technical work, and mentors junior engineers.

Own end-to-end manufacturing processes for pulser module assembly and lead prototype-to-production transitions for new electrical components. Develop work instructions, tooling, fixturing, and production documentation; mentor technicians; resolve non-conformances through root-cause analysis; support DFM and first-article builds; manage schedules in Microsoft Project; track production metrics; and scale assembly operations from low-rate production to higher volumes.

Design, analyze, test, prototype, and commission advanced vacuum systems for fusion target chambers and diagnostics. Select and size vacuum components for cryogenic, particle-free environments; characterize materials for vacuum compatibility; support high-voltage testing; troubleshoot field issues; and collaborate across disciplines to establish design requirements.

Lead end-to-end fabrication, procurement, machining, testing, and installation of complex UHV vacuum chambers and precision steel assemblies for a fusion system. Manage supplier RFQs, technical bid reviews, execution plans, leak testing, qualification, documentation, quality control, and schedule compliance. Coordinate with physicists and design engineers to optimize performance and reliability while ensuring stringent welding, cleanliness, surface finish, sealing, and tolerance requirements.

Design, build, operate, and advance high-voltage pulsed power systems for fusion experiments. Lead R&D workflows, develop controls and diagnostics, run tests and data analysis, and collaborate across disciplines to improve reliability and performance.

Design, build, operate, and improve pulsed power systems and controls for a pulser-driven fusion platform. Lead experimental campaigns, acquire and analyze data, and develop diagnostic and automation tools. Manage subsystem roadmaps, design reviews, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance reliability and performance. Ensure safe operation and translate results into next-generation pulser designs.

Own end-to-end manufacturing processes for pulser module assembly, including work instructions, tooling, fixturing, production documentation, and acceptance. Lead technicians, resolve non-conformances through root cause analysis, partner with design engineering on DFM improvements, track production metrics, manage build schedules, and support scale-up from prototype to higher-volume production. The role requires hands-on experience with complex electromechanical hardware, machining, quality systems, engineering drawings, and fast-paced startup manufacturing.

Implement and maintain security controls across cloud, SaaS, and endpoints. Manage MDM and endpoint protection, enforce identity and access policies (MFA/conditional access), investigate and remediate incidents, document controls and evidence, and support System Security Plan development and compliance activities.

Design, analyze, and procure custom lifting, transport, and handling fixtures for large hardware. Produce CAD models, FEA, and fabrication drawings; verify structural integrity under static and dynamic loads; document testing; work with engineers and production to meet technical requirements; mentor other engineers and apply industry safety standards and regulations.

Architect and implement full‑stack systems for data acquisition, storage, APIs, and React front ends to support pulser factory and Demonstration System workflows. Define database schemas, design UIs (Figma), build data pipelines and streaming integrations, and lead a team to accelerate experiment-to-analysis decision cycles.

Lead development and integration of building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, piping, pneumatic and vacuum systems) for a fusion demonstration facility. Interface with cross-functional teams, support design, permitting, construction oversight, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and future upgrades.

Design, analyze, and validate high-performance vacuum seals and test assemblies for fusion systems. Lead experimental test campaigns, perform FMEA and tolerance stack-ups, research novel sealing techniques, support system integration, document validation data, and mentor junior engineers.
