What’s in it for youAs a Senior Technical Buyer, you will independently lead the sourcing and procurement of complex equipment, outside processes, and other areas of technical scope in support of Rangeview’s growing manufacturing operations.
This is not a transactional purchasing role. You will work directly with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and suppliers to translate technical requirements into clear RFXs, evaluate proposals, identify gaps and risks, negotiate commercial terms, and drive purchases from initial sourcing through delivery and acceptance.
You will be expected to understand the technical details behind what you are buying, ask the right questions when requirements are incomplete, and make sound commercial decisions in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
As Rangeview continues to scale its manufacturing capabilities and facilities, you will also help build the repeatable sourcing processes, supplier relationships, and procurement infrastructure needed to support that growth.
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a science, technical, manufacturing, industrial technology, supply chain, or related field; relevant trade-school or technical training is also valued. In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of directly relevant experience purchasing complex equipment in a manufacturing environment may be considered.
- Demonstrated excellence in technical purchasing, industrial equipment sourcing, manufacturing engineering, or a closely related role, including experience independently managing complex purchasing or sourcing decisions from initial requirements through final resolution.
- Practical fluency with engineering drawings, measurements, dimensional tolerances, equipment specifications, and technical supplier discussions, as well as the ability to confidently ask precise technical questions and identify missing or incomplete information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, commercial instincts, and negotiation experience.
- Ability to compare technically complex supplier proposals and make objective sourcing recommendations.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced onsite manufacturing environment.
- Comfort navigating applicable standards, revisions, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Ability to pivot in a start-up environment where things change quickly and diversity of thought and creativity are valued.
- Partner closely with engineers (Production and R&D) to understand the technical requirements needed for purchases, which include, but are not limited to, equipment, materials, parts, processes, and facility upgrades.
- Own assigned category purchases end to end, including sourcing strategy, supplier research, RFXs, technical and commercial bid analysis, negotiation, purchase order execution, and supplier follow-through.
- Develop clear and complete RFXs that enable suppliers to provide accurate technical and commercial proposals.
- Identify omissions, exceptions, inconsistencies, and risks within supplier quotations before purchase order placement.
- Build side-by-side technical and commercial comparisons covering performance, capacity, integration requirements (e.g.. utilities, dimensions, controls, etc.), lead times, warranty, serviceability, and total delivered cost.
- Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, schedule commitments, warranty terms, change control, delivery terms, and appropriate supplier remedies within delegated authority.
- Coordinate drawing approval, design reviews, factory acceptance testing, supplier documentation, shipment readiness, equipment delivery, and site acceptance tests.
- Build productive supplier relationships that improve quality, lead time predictability, commercial performance, and continuity over time.
- Support routine purchasing, supplier onboarding, expediting, basic inventory processes, and logistics coordination.
- Document procedures and maintain accessible sourcing records so critical information and supplier knowledge do not depend on one individual.
- Cross-train with other Supply Chain team members and share project status updates to ensure continuity across the organization.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing and purchasing complex industrial or capital equipment in a manufacturing environment, including equipment such as robotics and robot arms, automation systems, CNC equipment, lathes, waterjets, dust-collection systems, vacuum equipment, furnaces, thermal-processing equipment, or similar production machinery.
- Experience with structured factory/site acceptance testing, equipment qualification, commissioning, or acceptance processes.
- Experience negotiating capital equipment purchases involving milestone payments, installation, commissioning, warranties, acceptance criteria, change control, and long-lead manufacturing schedules.
- Experience working directly with engineers, operations teams, integrators, OEMs, and technical suppliers throughout equipment sourcing, fabrication, testing, delivery, and installation.
- Experience developing technical and commercial supplier comparisons, total-cost evaluations, and sourcing recommendations for leadership review.
- Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing within a technical manufacturing environment.
