About Anthrogen
Anthrogen is engineering post-modality biology. Today's modalities reflect historical contingencies in biological progress, not fundamental categories. We develop the AI systems that design modular biological machines and the experimental infrastructure to instantiate them. We're a small, high-density team in San Francisco building frontier AI and the biological systems to validate it, and we care most about people who move fast, go deep, and pick up whatever the problem needs.
The role
We hire for talent before titles. If you are exceptional and none of our open roles quite fit, tell us what we're missing.
You might have a research direction we should pursue, a capability we haven't built, or an unusual combination of skills that would change what we can do. You don't need to arrive with a complete job description. You do need to give us a concrete reason to think we should work together.
We're looking for the same things we look for in every hire: exceptional work, independent judgment, curiosity beyond a specialty, and a serious interest in what Anthrogen is trying to build. The absence of a matching title shouldn't keep us from meeting someone we ought to know.

What We Do
Anthrogen is an AI research lab building a network for biological intelligence and a complete network for biologics discovery and development. It develops AI systems that design modular biological machines and experimental infrastructure to instantiate them. Its work includes protein foundation models for new-to-nature peptides, with applications spanning human health and frontier manufacturing, using massively parallelized experimentation to accelerate biologics discovery and development.
