The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing all workshop operations to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet and equipment. The role ensures maximum fleet availability, minimizes downtime, controls maintenance costs, and maintains high safety and operational standards. The position also plays a strategic role in improving workshop efficiency, maintenance planning, technical performance, and overall operational reliability across the business.
- Oversee daily workshop operations and maintenance activities
- Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules
- Manage mechanics, technicians, and workshop support staff
- Ensure timely repair and servicing of fleet vehicles and equipment
- Monitor workshop productivity and fleet availability
- Control maintenance costs, spare parts usage, and workshop expenses
- Maintain accurate service, repair, and maintenance records
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and workshop procedures
- Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement needs
- Investigate vehicle breakdowns and recommend corrective actions
- Prepare workshop and maintenance reports for management review
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within workshop operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of workshop or fleet maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance and workshop operations
- Experience managing commercial fleet maintenance within the logistics industry
- Good understanding of preventive maintenance systems and fault diagnosis
- Experience in maintenance budgeting and cost control
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and problem-solving ability
- Experience using workshop management or maintenance systems is an advantage
