Our client is seeking a highly capable and hands on Workshop Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the workshop and ensure efficient maintenance and repair of its flatbed truck fleet. The role focuses on maximizing fleet availability, minimizing downtime, controlling maintenance costs, and maintaining high safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate is technically strong, operationally driven, and experienced in managing heavy vehicle workshops within a fast-paced transport environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all workshop operations, including maintenance planning and scheduling
- Ensure timely repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and improve fleet availability
- Supervise and manage workshop staff, ensuring productivity and discipline
- Maintain accurate service, repair, and maintenance records for all trucks and trailers
- Manage and control spare parts inventory to avoid shortages or overstocking
- Monitor maintenance costs and implement cost-control measures
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational procedures
- Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to align maintenance schedules with business needs
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in fleet or heavy vehicle maintenance
- Proven experience managing a workshop with multiple trucks
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Strong understanding of truck systems, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment
- Ability to manage maintenance costs and drive operational efficiency
- Experience in the transport or logistics industry is highly preferred
