The ideal candidate will reside near our office in Charleston, WV but we are open to home-based candidates who reside in any state we are registered for payroll, as seen in this posting and on our careers page.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities related to workers' compensation claims.  Work closely with insurance claims adjusters, the legal team, and other stakeholders to recover costs, mitigate financial losses and maximize net restitution to the company. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Claims Analysis:  Review workers' compensation claims to identify potential subrogation sources/opportunities.  Analyze claim details, including medical records, accident reports, and witness statements.
  • Communication:  Communicate with internal claims adjusters, legal teams, and external parties to gather relevant information and build a strong subrogation case.
  • Legal Compliance:  Stay informed about workers' compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance with legal requirements.  Work with legal professionals to preserve, notice and resolve subrogation liens within the statutory framework of the particular jurisdiction.
  • Negotiation:  Engage in negotiations with third parties, their insurance representatives and/or third-party attorneys to resolve subrogation liens.  Advocate for Encova’s interests and maximize net recovery dollars.
  • Documentation:  Maintain accurate and detailed records of subrogation efforts, including correspondence, negotiations, and settlements.   Update Compasse with relevant information.
  • Recovery resolution:  Work with accounting to credit recoveries to proper claim.
  • Reporting:  Prepare reports on subrogation activities, recovery successes, and potential challenges. Provide updates to management and other stakeholders on the status of subrogation cases.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as insurance, business, or legal studies) preferred.
  • Experience in workers' compensation, casualty liability claims or WC subrogation handling is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and fair claims practice statutes.
  • Requires a job history of pro-activity and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Continuing education is preferred and may be obtained through:  Certificate in General Insurance; Associate in Claims (AIC) designation; Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional (CSRP) designation; and or Chartered Casualty Property Underwriter (CPCU).
