Individuals in the Virtualization SME role will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing a robust virtual infrastructure that aligns with company standards, security policies, and compliance guidelines. As a senior member of the Virtualization SME team, you will lead by example, driving innovation, operational excellence, and collaboration to ensure the highest levels of system reliability, performance, and scalability. In addition to managing advanced virtualization technologies, this role will be responsible for mentoring team members, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, and providing strategic direction to enhance the organization's virtualization environment. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to deliver solutions that support critical business objectives.
Responsibilities:

• Virtualization Infrastructure Management: Optimize and continuously improve enterprise-grade virtualization solutions using VMware products and related infrastructure, including ESXi, vSphere, NSX, Aria Operations, and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• System Hardening and Security: Lead efforts to ensure system hardening, patch planning, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with security policies and standards.
• Performance and Capacity Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and fine-tune the performance and capacity of virtualized environments to meet evolving business needs.
• Advanced Troubleshooting and Support: Serve as the escalation point for complex Level 3 operational issues, diagnosing system failures, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to maintain operational continuity and stability.
• Team Leadership: Act as a team lead, providing mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to the Virtualization SME team and ITCC. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate and contribute to multiple cross-functional initiatives, projects, and workgroups, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and efficient delivery of solutions.
• Service and Product Management: Oversee service delivery, product lifecycle management, and ensure adherence to best practices for patching, version management, and operational excellence.
• Enterprise Ticketing and Change Management: Manage and oversee incident resolution, service requests, and change control processes within enterprise ticketing systems, with a preference for ServiceNow.
• Technology Integration: Design and implement complex infrastructure solutions that integrate seamlessly across the organization, including Cisco UCS, Cisco Fabric Interconnects, 9K and 3K switches, storage systems, and Nutanix platforms.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Work experience:

• 7+ yearsof relevant experience in IT operations, infrastructure management, and SRE practices.

• Extensive experience withAzure,AWS Cloud,VMware,Nutanix, and other hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) setups.

• Proven expertise in monitoring tools likeNew Relic, scripting languages (Python,Ansible), and VMware automation platforms.

• Strong background in risk management, security hardening, and compliance frameworks.

• Experience withNSXand virtualized network setups is highly desirable.
• Monitoring Tools: New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds, Splunk. Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS. Automation Tools: Ansible, Python, VMware automation platforms. Infrastructure Tools: Nutanix, VMware, NSX. Security Tools: SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners. Operating Systems: Windows, Linux.

• Cloud Expertise: Advanced knowledge ofAzureand/orAWS Cloudenvironments.

• Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI): Strong expertise inNutanixand similar setups.

• Virtualization: Strong expertise inVMwareandNSXfor network virtualization.

• Security: Deep understanding of security hardening, vulnerability remediation, risk management, and compliance frameworks.

• Incident Management: Experience in root cause analysis, incident response, and developing self-healing mechanisms.

• Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Azure Certification(e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).

• AWS Certifications(e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).

• VMware Certifications(e.g., VCP-DCV, VMware NSX-V/T certifications).

• Nutanix Certifications(e.g., Nutanix Certified Professional - Multicloud Infrastructure).

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

• ITIL Certification.

• CompTIA Security+ Certification.

Salary: 5,681.01 - 8,115.79 eur gross/month
