About the Client

Our client is the Co-Founder of Nalo Seed, a marketing, AI, and technology consulting agency based in Texas. The agency helps businesses build stronger brands and achieve measurable growth through strategic branding, SEO, content strategy, AI implementation, and generative engine optimization.

The agency works with clients across a variety of industries, primarily in Texas, with plans to expand its reach nationally and eventually globally.

The team currently manages social media and content for multiple clients and is looking to expand its capacity by bringing on a talented Video Editor / Social Media Content Designer.

The ideal candidate will help transform raw client-provided footage, photos, and content into polished, engaging social media assets—primarily for Instagram Reels and other short-form platforms.

Position Overview

The Short-Form Video Editor & Social Media Content Designer will primarily support the client with the editing and design side of social media production.

The client and her team will provide the necessary raw materials, creative direction, client context, branding assets, and other resources. The VA will be responsible for turning those materials into polished, on-brand content.

This is a production-focused role rather than a social media strategy or posting role.

The client already has a Social Media Coordinator who handles posting and social media execution, so the VA will not be primarily responsible for scheduling or publishing content.

The VA will work directly with Kelly, who will provide direction, review finished work, and approve content before it is published.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Short-Form Video Editing — PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

The majority of the role will focus on creating short-form social media videos, particularly Instagram Reels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Editing raw client-provided video footage into engaging short-form content
  • Creating approximately up to 4 finished videos per week, depending on workload and complexity
  • Cutting unnecessary footage, pauses, "ums," "ahs," and repetitive sections
  • Identifying the strongest portions of longer recordings
  • Creating concise and engaging clips from longer-form footage
  • Adding captions/subtitles
  • Adding appropriate background music
  • Syncing music and visuals appropriately
  • Adding transitions and other appropriate visual elements
  • Creating attention-grabbing openings/hooks when appropriate
  • Incorporating client branding
  • Adding logos, outros, CTAs, and other branded assets provided by the client
  • Formatting videos appropriately for social media
  • Creating recap/highlight videos from events
  • Turning client-provided photos and videos into polished social media content
  • Repurposing existing footage into multiple pieces of content
  • Maintaining consistency across a client's social media content

Examples of projects may include:

  • Instagram Reels
  • Event recap videos
  • Customer/event highlight videos
  • Behind-the-scenes content
  • Talking-head videos
  • Promotional videos
  • Business introduction videos
  • Client testimonials
  • Short educational clips
  • Branded social media videos

2. Client-Specific Video Style

A major requirement is the ability to adapt editing style to different clients and industries.

Nalo Seed works with clients across different industries, so there will not be one universal editing style.

For example:

  • A real estate client may have a polished, professional style
  • A Latino/Hispanic client may use more upbeat or culturally appropriate music
  • A healthcare/chiropractic client may require a clean and professional aesthetic
  • An event client may require something more energetic and dynamic

Kelly will provide guidance regarding each client's:

  • Brand personality
  • Preferred music
  • Visual style
  • Branding
  • Tone
  • Existing social media presence
  • Appropriate editing approach

The VA should be able to follow creative direction while also exercising good visual judgment.

3. Social Media Content Design

The VA may also assist with the design side of social media content, including:

  • Social media graphics
  • Event graphics
  • Promotional graphics
  • Event recap graphics
  • Social media posts
  • Basic branded layouts
  • Visual assets for campaigns
  • Simple promotional materials

The client currently uses Canva extensively, including for video editing and social media graphics.

Strong Canva skills are therefore highly preferred.

4. Event & Promotional Design

Occasionally, the VA may assist with event-related creative projects, such as:

  • Event flyers
  • Promotional graphics
  • Event social media assets
  • T-shirt designs
  • Marketing collateral
  • Promotional materials
  • Event recap content

These projects will be less frequent than social media video editing but may arise depending on client needs.

5. Long-Form Video Editing — SECONDARY / OCCASIONAL

The primary focus is short-form content, but the VA may occasionally assist with longer video projects.

One current example is an About Us video where the client has approximately two hours of recorded footage that needs to be reviewed and condensed into a polished approximately two-minute video.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing long-form footage
  • Identifying the strongest sections
  • Removing unnecessary dialogue
  • Removing filler words and pauses
  • Selecting the best narrative
  • Condensing extensive footage into short videos
  • Creating polished business/brand videos
  • Adding music, captions, branding, and transitions

Long-form projects are not expected to be the regular workload, but experience with them is a strong advantage.

6. Logo & Graphic Design — SECONDARY OPPORTUNITY

The client also has an occasional need for a strong graphic/logo designer.

Logo projects may occur approximately:

  • Once per month, or
  • Once every one to two months

Depending on the client's project pipeline.

Potential responsibilities include:

  • Logo concepts
  • Multiple logo variations
  • Brand marks
  • Event branding
  • Promotional designs
  • Flyers
  • T-shirt designs
  • Other branded collateral

IMPORTANT:

The client specifically emphasized that logo design is one of her biggest pain points.

She is therefore interested in seeing candidates with strong, dedicated logo design portfolios, not simply general graphic design experience.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong branding fundamentals
  • Typography
  • Color theory
  • Visual identity
  • Concept development
  • Multiple logo concepts
  • Ability to interpret a client's personality and vision
  • Professional-quality logo portfolios

 Tools & Technology

Required / Strongly Preferred

Canva — REQUIRED/PREFERRED

The client currently uses Canva extensively for:

  • Social media reels
  • Video editing
  • Graphics
  • Promotional materials

Candidates should be comfortable working independently in Canva.

Strongly Preferred

  • CapCut
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator

Experience with other professional video-editing and graphic-design platforms is welcome.

AI Skills

Because Nalo Seed specializes in AI implementation and AI-driven marketing, candidates who are comfortable using AI tools are highly desirable.

Experience with tools such as:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • AI-assisted video editing
  • AI-assisted content creation
  • AI design tools

would be an advantage.

The candidate should be comfortable learning new AI-powered tools and incorporating technology into their workflow when appropriate.

Communication & Collaboration

The VA will primarily communicate with Kelly, rather than directly with Nalo Seed's clients.

Kelly will:

  • Provide raw footage and assets
  • Explain the client's personality/style
  • Provide branding materials
  • Give creative direction
  • Review completed work
  • Provide feedback
  • Approve content before publication

The VA should therefore be comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions efficiently.

Important:

The VA will not be responsible for final client approval or posting.

Nalo Seed already has a Social Media Coordinator who handles posting.

Communication Tools

The client uses Slack and is comfortable communicating through Slack.

If multiple VAs are eventually hired—for example, a video editor and a logo designer—Nalo Seed is open to creating a shared Slack channel so team members supporting the same client can coordinate.

Working Hours & Availability

Initial commitment:

10 hours per week

The client expects the workload to potentially increase as the agency acquires more clients.

The goal of hiring is not simply to delegate existing work—it is to increase the agency's capacity to accept additional clients and sell additional services.

Time Zone:

The client is based in Texas, USA.

She does not require the VA to work the entire US business day.

However, she would prefer approximately 1–2 hours of daily overlap for communication, feedback, and project coordination.

The remainder of the VA's hours can be flexible.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is:

  • Highly skilled in short-form video editing
  • Experienced creating Instagram Reels
  • Highly proficient in Canva
  • Creative and visually oriented
  • Able to understand different brand personalities
  • Able to select appropriate music
  • Experienced with captions/subtitles
  • Detail-oriented

  • Comfortable receiving creative direction
  • Able to make revisions without excessive back-and-forth
  • Organized with multiple client projects
  • Comfortable working across different industries
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Comfortable using AI tools
  • Able to communicate clearly in English
