We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Developer with 7-10+ years of experience in IBM z/OS application development, maintenance, modernization, and production support. The ideal candidate should possess deep technical expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, SQL, JCL, VSAM, and batch processing, along with a strong understanding of enterprise-scale transaction processing systems. Experience in troubleshooting complex production issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring application stability is essential. The role requires hands-on involvement in application design, development, testing, performance tuning, deployment, and ongoing support of mission-critical business applications.
The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues, assess business impacts, and deliver effective solutions under tight timelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills are equally important, as the role involves regular interaction with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and senior management. The candidate should be capable of translating business requirements into technical solutions and presenting technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with Agile methodologies, production support, incident management, performance optimization, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives is required. Exposure to MQ, web services, IMS (preferred), and mainframe integration technologies will be an added advantage. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven professional who can lead technical initiatives, mentor junior developers, drive operational excellence, and contribute to the modernization and long-term stability of enterprise mainframe platforms.
