Supports development and validation of cloud-native telecommunications software and AI solutions for software engineering, knowledge management, automation, and developer productivity. Responsibilities include building scripts, tools, dashboards, prototypes, and proof-of-concept implementations; analyzing engineering data; supporting documentation and knowledge repositories; and participating in AI pilots, workshops, hackathons, and stakeholder collaboration.

The Product Development organization in Aachen is looking for motivated and curious students who want to enlarge hands-on experience in a collaborative, diverse and high-performing team working at the forefront of telecommunications and Artificial Intelligence.
Besides working with the local team, you will also interact and collaborate with colleagues around the world.
As a Student Helper, you will support the team in developing and validating modern product development solutions while exploring how Artificial Intelligence can transform software engineering processes and ease integration and verification workflows. You will contribute to projects involving AI, automation, developer productivity, knowledge management and AI-assisted software development.
The team develops cloud-native products for mobile core and/or RAN networks and explores how AI can transform software engineering, knowledge management and developer productivity in large-scale telecom systems.

You will
  • Support the development and validation of software solutions for mobile core and/or RAN networks in cloud-native or proprietary environments.
  • Explore and develop AI solutions for software engineering, knowledge management and automation use cases.
  • Develop scripts, tools, dashboards and prototypes to automate engineering workflows and improve developer productivity.
  • Contribute to proof-of-concept implementations related to AI-assisted software development and engineering workflows.
  • Support knowledge management initiatives, including documentation, knowledge repositories and engineering knowledge structures.
  • Assist in analyzing engineering data and identifying opportunities for AI-based improvements.
  • Support internal AI pilots, workshops, hackathons, demonstrations and community activities.
  • Interact with other organizations and stakeholders within Ericsson.

To be successful in the role you should have
  • An ongoing academic degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering or a related field.
  • Solid programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with Java and/or C++ is a plus.
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and AI-assisted software development.
  • Experience developing MCP and knowledge graphs is a plus
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, scripting or automation tools.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, Git and modern software development practices.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Motivation and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in diverse and remote teams.
  • A creative and innovative mindset with a solution-oriented attitude.

Nice to have
  • Experience with Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Kiro, Amazon Q, Claude, ChatGPT or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Machine Learning frameworks.
  • Experience with web development, dashboards or data visualization technologies.
  • Interest in developer productivity, software automation and modern engineering practices.
