WHOOP is seeking a Staff Technical Lead in Electrical Engineering to lead electrical development efforts across our wearable hardware platform. This role will drive the development of current and next-generation products while also advancing performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of electrical systems at scale. You will operate at the intersection of electrical design and electrical system architecture while owning critical electrical decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers, providing technical direction, prioritization, and ongoing mentorship. 

  • Act as technical lead across one or more hardware programs, balancing hands-on execution with strategic guidance.

  • Architect, design, and validate low-power, low-noise, mixed-signal electronics in highly integrated and miniaturized form factors.

  • Drive electrical initiatives including product performance optimization, design for manufacturing, reliability enhancements, cost reduction, and second-sourcing.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure robust system integration and scalable production.

  • Own electrical development across the product lifecycle.

  • Lead root cause investigations for field and production issues and implement validated electrical solutions.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support builds, define test strategies, and improve yield across global production lines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering across product development and/or high-volume manufacturing.

  • Strong foundation in analog, digital, power systems, and mixed-signal design.

  • Proven ability to deliver hardware at scale.

  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers and driving technical execution through others.

  • Experience with ECAD tools (Altium preferred) and strong lab/debug skills.

  • Effective cross-functional collaborator with strong communication skills.

  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 - $195,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training. 
 
In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.
 
These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

Skills Required

  • BS or greater in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years experience in relevant fields
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical priorities, lead complex design efforts, and mentor engineers
  • Deep knowledge of circuit design, low-power systems, digital communication protocols, and mixed-signal design
  • Proficiency in schematic capture, layout review, and ECAD tools (Altium preferred)
  • Strong lab and debug skills; familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, VNAs, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers
  • Clear, collaborative communicator comfortable working across disciplines and with external partners
  • Willingness to work out of WHOOP Boston, MA office and relocate if necessary
  • Tactical leadership and management experience in hardware development
  • Experience in battery-powered, high-reliability products at scale
  • Prior experience owning electrical design for miniaturized or form factor-constrained products
