Team Overview
TransUnion Consumer Interactive (TUCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of TransUnion, is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer. TUCI builds credit monitoring web services for consumers, like you. Typically these applications allow a consumer to view their credit report, credit score, receive credit alerts, lock their credit to prevent fraud, and simulate a credit score based on various parameters.Candidates should have a solid grasp of web development processes and procedures in the validation and testing of web services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to interface with development engineers, database engineers, quality control professionals, architects, scrum masters, product owners and executives. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
How you’ll Contribute:
Test Planning & Execution: Writing and executing test cases for testing of new product requirements and any production software or system/platform changes.
- Writing and executing web service test cases related to the back-end testing of new product requirements.
- Defect Management and Investigation: Be able to troubleshoot code, exceptions and connectivity issues
- Reading error log messages related to the applications under test to support defect investigation.
- Writing defects, including steps to reproduce including applicable supporting documentation, such as log error messages or screen shots.
Automation: Enhancing and maintaining automation processes
- Broaden and maintain scope of daily regression and smoke testing
- Expand continuous testing jobs
- Enhance build pipeline jobs in Harness
Required Knowledge And Experiences
What you’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or a combination of work and educational experiences that demonstrates experience writing customer facing websites/applications.
- 8+ years of demonstrable hands-on experience in a software testing profession
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and should be able to function independently as a team member.
- You’ll create use cases based on technical guidelines, design documents, and industry best practices
- You’ll review code for defects and quality against technical documents and standard practices
- You’ll generate accurate implementation estimates based on technical documents, business requirements, and team member’s abilities
- Experience consuming SOAP and REST web services along with a variety of security mechanisms for authentication and authorization
- Experience with Relational Databases and SQL programming in Oracle DB.
- Experience with ReadyAPI
- Experience with code repository, such as SVN, in a team environment
- Ability to work independently and provide solutions to technical problems.
- Familiarity with JIRA for defect management.
- Familiarity with Splunk, Grafana and Spotfire for defect investigation/verification.
- Ability to work with repositories in a team environment.
- Agile methodology knowledge is a plus.
