Remote (U.S.) — Full Time
The Cari Network is building a blockchain-based payment system powering real-time, 24/7 movement of digital money across the traditional finance and digital asset ecosystems. A pre-launch startup, we're creating an entirely new category of financial infrastructure that brings cash on chain through tokenization while powering the full spectrum of payments for our network—banks, digital asset exchanges, and, most importantly, the customers they serve.
We’re looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design and lead the quality strategy for our banking and on-chain payments platform. You will build automated testing systems that ensure the reliability, security, and correctness of our bank integrations, backend services, and real-time token transaction flows, helping us meet the extremely high bar required for financial infrastructure that spans on- and off-chain systems.
About the Role
Reporting to the Principal QA Lead, you will build test automation for a highly regulated, banking-heavy tokenization and payments platform that also leverages innovative blockchain technologies. This role is deeply compliance-driven and requires prior experience working within a bank or regulated financial institution. You will be responsible for ensuring that banking integrations, transaction processing, orchestration with blockchain services, and internal controls meet strict regulatory, audit, and risk management standards.
You will design and operate testing systems that validate not only functional correctness, but also regulatory controls, data integrity, auditability, and operational resilience. You will work closely with Cari’s engineers, product, risk & compliance, and security teams to ensure the platform is production-ready for real bank partners.
What You'll Do
Design and build scalable test automation frameworks for banking APIs, core banking integrations, backend services, and end-to-end token transaction flows (token issuance, redemption, payments) spanning bank-side systems through Cari’s blockchain and related infrastructure
Leverage AI tools to build and maintain test automation suites
Implement automated testing for banking and blockchain integrations, including functional, edge-case, failure-mode, and error-handling validation
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases with high confidence
Develop performance, load, and stress tests for high-throughput, real-time transaction systems
Build test strategies for distributed systems, including event-driven workflows, asynchronous processing, and bank file- and message-based integrations
Partner with DevOps and backend teams to improve observability, test environments, and release safety
Define quality metrics, dashboards, and release gates aligned with banking compliance, operational risk, and audit requirements
Drive best practices for QA automation, including shift-left testing, test data management, and deterministic test design
Participate in architecture and design reviews to ensure testability, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and risk reduction from day one
Perform other quality assurance tasks as needed by the qa organization and company
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in QA automation or quality engineering, with significant experience in regulated financial environments
Demonstrated experience in using AI tools like Cursor AI and Claude in building automated tests and for other QA needs for day-to-day work (e.g., test scenarios, test cases, design, presentation, etc.)
Prior hands-on experience working at a bank, core banking provider, or regulated financial institution is required
Strong understanding of banking systems, payment rails, and financial operations
Deep experience testing banking APIs, payment processing systems, and third-party bank integrations
Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar languages used for test automation
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, Playwright, Cypress, Jest, Mocha or similar)
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
Strong knowledge of banking compliance and control frameworks (e.g., SOC 1/2, SOX, PCI DSS, FFIEC, internal controls)
Experience validating audit requirements, data lineage, reconciliation, and financial reporting accuracy
Experience with negative testing, failure scenarios, and operational risk mitigation
Excellent collaboration skills with engineering, product, risk & compliance, and security teams
Ability to define quality standards independently and act as a gatekeeper for production readiness
Nice to Haves
Experience with blockchain and related technologies (e.g., wallet custody)
Experience with ACH, wire transfers, RTP, FedNow, or other bank payment rails
Experience testing ledgering, reconciliation, and settlement systems
Exposure to regulatory exams, audits, or bank partner due diligence processes
Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., k6, Locust, JMeter)
Experience with WebSocket-based or real-time systems
What We Offer
Competitive compensation: salary, bonus, and equity
Full medical, vision, dental benefits
401(k) with matching program
Flexible vacation policy (PTO) and remote-first work environment
Opportunity to shape a market-defining protocol with an experienced founding team
Influence over architecture strategy at the earliest stage
