The Role
JOB SUMMARY
Validates and codes monthly cost and expense invoices to ensure that Telecom costs are accurately reflected within the monthly market financial statements and that the invoices reflect contractual rates. Responsible for creation and comparison of monthly cost trends for forecasting, comparison to budget and monthly trend variances. These monthly trends will supplement the monthly financial statement reporting package, prepared by the Telephone Finance organization. In addition, works with internal sources in development and maintenance of necessary inventories.

  • Actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Analyzing and interpreting billing support data produced by the vendor and/or internal sources which includes trouble-shooting for anomalies and contractual rate validation.
  • Filing and tracking vendor disputes as determined by contractual rate analysis.
  • Anticipating and predicting additions, changes and deletions that should reflect in the next monthly billing. Calculating accruals for any adjustments not reflected in billing.
  • Analyzing vendor aging for outstanding balances. Mediating with Accounts Payable and vendors to resolve payment application discrepancies.
  • Analyzing and interpreting monthly cost variances and trends as reported in Financial Statements.
  • Designing and building database query reports to enable decision making and support monthly billed trends.
  • Collaborating with vendors and managing disputes by holding periodic follow up calls with assigned vendors. Researching contracts to determine validity of vendor position.
  • Coding assigned invoices to ensure proper classification within monthly financial statements, based on information received from the field, inventory system, circuit service orders, etc.
  • Reconciling assigned accounts to ensure payments are received and posted, open balances researched and credits used appropriately.
  • Building and maintaining inventory lists as required. Ascertaining and identifying if disparities exist.
  • Validating and auditing monthly rates to contractual terms for multiple vendors.
  • Determining, quantifying and summarizing monthly cost accruals.
  • Utilizing internal controls to protect company assets/inventories.
  • Obtaining and maintaining tax exemptions from vendors where applicable.
  • Identifying and investigating problems in financial processes as it relates to recording of monthly cost invoices and recommends continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Performing other duties as requested by supervisor.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience: Accounting Experience (4-7 Years). PeopleSoft or Accounting Software Experience (4-7 Years). Carrier Cost Management System Experience (4-7 Years).

  • Knowledge and understanding of telecommunications products and services
