Your Impact
As a Specialist Systems Engineer within the I&MI team, you will serve as the primary technical authority for Optical networking, driving the evolution of converged Layer 0 through to Layer 3 infrastructure. You will provide technical expertise and pre-sales support for Cisco's comprehensive portfolio including:
Optical Networking: Cisco NCS series DWDM line systems, Pluggables, Cisco Routed Optical Networking solutions, Acacia optics, 400G/800G optics
Service Provider Routing: Cisco 8000 Series Routers, Cisco ASR 9000 Series, Cisco NCS (Network Convergence System) Series
Network Automation & Controllers: Cisco Crosswork, Cisco NSO and PCA
AI Networking Solutions: Scalable fabrics for GPU-powered infrastructures
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Pre-Sales:
Collaborate cross-functionally with Cisco’s I&MI Product Sales Specialists, Services, Engineering, and Account Managers, Account Solutions Engineers, Partner Account Managers and teams to align sales and partner strategies across all I&MI architectures.
Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts to customers at all levels, including CXO
Design and architect end-to-end solutions for next-generation converged networks spanning Layer 0 to Layer 3
Lead RFP/RFQ responses for optical and routing solutions in SP environments
Create and present ROI-based business case modelling to drive value-based selling
Act as a trusted technical advisor for strategic accounts to ensure alignment with customer objectives and industry trends Cisco
Good understanding of the service providers, web-scale players, Enterprise, Public Sector customers in the ANZ and ASEAN region.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
8+ years of experience in Optical, Service Provider routing and Solution sales/engineering
Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or Solutions Architect in the telecommunications/networking industry
Experience engaging with key customers, understanding their unique needs, and applying industry best practices
Good understanding of the service providers, web-scale players, Public Sector and Enterprise customers in the ANZ and ASEAN regions
Technical Expertise:
Deep knowledge of optical networking space with experience in DCI, Metro, Core, and Subsea DWDM solutions
Hands-on optical design experience for Layer 0 and Layer 1 DWDM networks
Strong Understanding of Telecom networks, IP Networking, L2/L3 VPNs, SDN, Segment routing/v6, Optical Networking, 4G/5G networks
Understanding of Layer 3 technologies and management plane including MPLS, RSVP, SR, SDN, NMS
Knowledge of IEEE standards for security and transport
Skills:
Excellent communication and presentation skills at CXO level and for large audiences/forums
Ability to explain complex technology benefits in easy-to-understand business language
Strong listening skills and ability to extract key customer issues
Ability to build senior executive relationships and position complex solutions
Demonstrated awareness of SP market trends and transitions
Project management and collaboration skills in multi-functional engineering environments
