As a Software Test Engineer you will be an integral part of the Avionics development team. You will ensure the quality, reliability, and readiness of avionics software systems through requirements-linked testing at the component and system levels. The role involves developing and expanding test coverage to mitigate software risk, owning the flight software test and release pipeline, and triaging new or unexpected issues. The Software Test Engineer will prepare and maintain test software, hardware, and environments, work closely with software, systems, and hardware teams to support effective validation, and document results through clear reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and perform requirements-linked tests on avionics software systems and components
- Expand testing coverage and depth to mitigate software risks
- Own flight software release pipeline and triage novel software issues
- Prepare and maintain test software, hardware, and related equipment
- Record test results and process into reports and presentations for internal and external use
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- 3+ years experience in software-focused test engineering and execution
- 3+ years experience developing testing tools in Python
- 3+ years experience testing C/C++ applications (unit testing, software-in-the-loop, etc)
- Experience working with continuous integration, automated build and test, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Experience with Git version control and GitHub workflows
- Ability to work effectively in teams or individually
- Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
Desirable Experience:
- Familiarity with flight software certification standards such as DO-178
- Experience generating and performing software-in-the-loop (SIL) tests
- Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS)
- Familiarity with Linux-based servers
- Experience with Docker
- Familiarity with networking, TCP/IP, OSI model, etc
- Knowledge of digital signal processing principles (sampling, filtering, etc)
- Experience with automated data processing
- Experience with scalable testing pipelines
- Experience with LaTeX or similar document generation software
- Working knowledge of FPGA operation
- Familiarity with GIT
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $95,000 - $115,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
