Software Engineering Lead Analyst
Evernorth, a leading Health Services company, is looking for exceptional engineers/developers in our Data and Analytics organization. In this role, you will actively participate with your development team on initiatives that support Evernorth's strategic goals as well as subject matter experts to understand business logic you will be engineering. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and developing advanced OpenTelemetry collector infrastructure, including custom processors, extensions, and API gateway solutions. This role focuses on building enterprise-grade telemetry collection platforms that enable seamless observability adoption across the organization through intuitive APIs and extensible processing pipelines.
The ideal candidate will work in a team environment that demands technical excellence, whose members are expected to hold each other accountable for the overall success of the end product. Focus for this team is on the delivery of innovative solutions to complex problems, but also with a mind to drive simplicity in refining and supporting of the solution by others
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and implement custom OpenTelemetry processors and extensions in Go for specialized telemetry processing requirements
- Build and maintain RESTful API proxy services with Swagger documentation to abstract OTEL SDK complexity from application teams
- Architect high-availability collector deployments using AWS ECS Fargate, Network Load Balancers, and auto-scaling configurations
- Implement advanced telemetry processing logic including sampling, filtering, enrichment, and routing strategies
- Maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform) for collector clusters, networking, and security configurations
- Optimize collector performance, memory usage, and throughput for enterprise-scale telemetry volumes
- Create comprehensive documentation and developer tooling to accelerate observability platform adoption
Qualifications
Required Experience & Education:
- 5 - 8 years of relevant Data Engineering Experience.
- Go Programming: Expert-level Go development for OTEL collector components, concurrent processing, and microservices
- OpenTelemetry Architecture: Deep understanding of collector pipelines, receiver/processor/exporter patterns, and OTLP specifications
- API Development: RESTful service design, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, authentication/authorization mechanisms
- AWS Infrastructure: ECS Fargate, Network Load Balancers, Route 53, security groups, and container orchestration
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform expertise for cloud resource provisioning and configuration management
- Container Technologies : Docker, container optimization, multi-stage builds, and security best practices
- Database Integration :PostgreSQL connectivity, connection pooling, and telemetry data schema design
Required Skills:
- OTEL Collector Contrib, gRPC protocol implementation, distributed systems design and microservices architecture patterns, CI/CD pipelines for collector builds and deployment automation
Preferred Skills, Experience & Education:
- Understanding of enterprise security requirements for telemetry data handling and compliance frameworks
