PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Build performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable, and available software applications and systems. Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Design, develop, and test high throughput back-end software systems. Develop object-oriented software and design, code, and test complex software features. Develop software code and help lead code review sessions. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time critical environment. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Identify and make recommendations to reduce software project risks. Partial telecommuting permitted from a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Java/J2EE – Experience designing and maintaining enterprise applications using core Java and J2EE technologies (2 years).
2. Spring Framework – Experience building scalable and modular applications using Spring Core, Spring MVC, and Spring Boot (2 years).
3. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) – Experience writing clean, maintainable code by applying OOP principles and design patterns (2 years).
4. REST APis – Experience developing and consuming RESTful web services for system integration and data exchange (2 years).
5. SQL/Relational Database Design – Experience writing optimized SQL queries and working with relational database schemas (2 years).
6. Test-Driven Development (TDD) – Experience practicing TDD to ensure code reliability and maintainability through automated tests (2 years).
7. NoSQL Databases – Experience working with NoSQL systems for handling semi-structured data and flexible data models (2 years).
8. CI/CD Tools including Jenkins – Experience using Jenkins and other tools for continuous integration and deployment pipelines (2 years).
9. Data Structures and Algorithms – Experience applying algorithmic thinking and efficient data structures to solve technical problems (2 years).
10. Scrum/Agile Methodology – Experience collaborating in Agile teams, participating in sprints, stand-ups, and delivering iterative solutions (1 year).
11. Experience with Node.js/React.js.

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

San Jose, California | Salary: $149,365.00-198,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
