We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the Search Platform team (Core Index Serving). In this role, you will build and operate reliable, high-performance, and scalable backend services that power core search retrieval and index-serving infrastructure across Atlassian products.
In this role, you will:

- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and product managers to solve backend scalability and performance challenges.
- Review code with best practices in mind, focusing on reliability, code readability, testing patterns, security, and low-latency performance.
- Ensure full observability, error tracking, and metrics monitoring for high-throughput backend services.
- Participate actively in Agile rituals, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and technical design discussions.
- Support teammates through knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving.
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.
