What you’ll do here:
FareHarbor, a Booking holding Company, is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team in Amsterdam. This role focuses on solving shared challenges across Product Teams, delivering reusable tools/components, and improving developer productivity, with security best practices as a key consideration.
Our platform supports tens of thousands of businesses daily, and our external APIs integrate with major partners such as Viator, TripAdvisor, and VELTRA, helping our clients expand their reach. We are looking for a software engineer first and foremost, but one who also has a strong understanding of security fundamentals, attack prevention, and detection techniques to help ensure that our systems remain secure and resilient.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement complex functionality with a strong focus on security, reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Write clean, secure, well-tested, and well-documented code.
- Work with Security Team to Identify and mitigate security risks in application code and APIs.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms.
- Investigate and remediate security vulnerabilities, working closely with internal teams.
- Influence technology choices and the architecture of newly built components and services.
- Produce reusable code components and libraries leveraged in production code.
- Function as an ambassador for engineering culture values and advocate security best practices throughout the organization.
- Coach and challenge engineers to adopt security-conscious development practices.
- Stay up to date with evolving cybersecurity threats and emerging best practices.
Requirement:
- 6+ years experience working with large-scale production codebases and mission-critical systems.
- Proficient in Python, with experience using Django.
- Have experience tackling security, performance and scalability challenges.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs with proper security measures.
- Strong understanding of secure coding principles, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
- Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, SAML, etc.).
- Familiarity with common security risks and mitigation strategies (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, etc.).
- Experience in independently gathering requirements, working with technical specifications, testing, and debugging.
- Comfortable with agile development methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a security-first mindset.
- Adaptable, proactive, and willing to own and take responsibility.
- Hands-on experience with security practices from Red, Blue, or Purple team perspectives is a plus.
