Introduction to the Team:

The Data Platform team at Expedia Group builds the trusted, scalable foundation that powers how data is collected, processed, stored and turned into insights across the company. The team's mission is to help engineers, analysts and product teams move faster by delivering easy-to-use platform services and data products that reduce the time and cost of unlocking value from data. We work across the full data lifecycle, from transactions and ingestion to streaming, persistence, governance and insight generation. The platform is designed to be AI-ready, resilient and secure with strong governance, compliance and simplified developer experience built in. Core focus areas include modernising the schema management platform while improving data quality, observability and access controls. The team enables self-service capabilities so product, engineering and business teams can innovate faster and make smarter, data-driven decisions. At its core, the Data Platform team helps Expedia Group accelerate innovation by making data more reliable, discoverable, and actionable at scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure full stack software services and components that support Expedia Group products and platforms.

  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to translate business and customer requirements into robust system designs, including low-level design (LLD), API design, and data models across front-end and back-end services.

  • Build and enhance user-facing experiences and the supporting back-end services, writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, automated tests, and tooling that improve reliability, observability, and operational excellence.

  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions, identifying opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance and quality across multiple services or domains.

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of full stack features and services, including deployment, monitoring, incident response, and incremental improvement, and safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes.

  • Work across different parts of the stack and adjacent technical domains as needed, demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Hands-on proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem, with experience in system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling for service-oriented or microservices architectures.

  • Experience owning full stack features or services through development, testing, deployment, and operational support, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.

  • Solid understanding of core computer science and engineering fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems concepts, and secure coding practices across both client and server components.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-throughput full stack solutions, including well-structured APIs, data models, and user interfaces that serve multiple teams or domains.

  • Demonstrated track record of improving service availability, performance, or reliability through metrics, observability, automation, and strong operational practices in both front-end and back-end services.

  • Background integrating or leveraging AI/ML-enabled components or platforms within production systems, and safely operating AI-driven features to enhance customer and business outcomes.

  • Experience working across multiple technical domains or layers of the stack (for example, web front-end frameworks, back-end services, and data or platform services), adapting quickly to new technologies, patterns, and AI-driven tooling.

  • Ability to contribute to and influence technical and architectural designs within a team or product area, making data-driven decisions and helping to evolve engineering standards, patterns, and best practices, including responsible and effective use of AI/ML in full stack systems.
