With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve.

All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy.

AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced sales leader to join our Small Business Sales leadership team based both remotely and in Denver, CO. You will play the critical role of leading small business sales reps; empowering them to engage, educate, and convert small business owners onto the Gusto platform for their payroll and HR needs. You align with our company values and have a passion for building high-performance sales teams that drive stellar monthly/quarterly outcomes while developing processes for the long haul. If you’re passionate about developing people, shaping processes, and you’re excited to roll up your sleeves and lead by example, let’s talk.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Lead a team of 12 Sales reps to achieve and exceed weekly/monthly/quarterly targets
  • Lead by example by rolling up your sleeves to embrace the phone, deliver demos, craft and refine messaging
  • Use data to inform decision-making and focus areas - ranging from skill development (e.g. coaching conversations, email campaign usage) to team initiatives (e.g. staffing to seasonality, piloting new activities). Track, measure and report-out on sales effectiveness against targets and adjust programs and strategies as necessary
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to refine lead targeting, messaging, lead qualification, and opportunity handoff
  • Build a culture of fun and excellence within the team. Cultivate each individual’s skill set development and guide career pathing as they grow within the organization
  • Ensure the effective use of Salesforce.com and other tools

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 1+ years of people management experience in a Sales environment
  • 1+ years of working for a company that provides software as a service solutions (SaaS)
  • Experience working with High Volume and High Velocity sales teams
  • Consistent track record of establishing and exceeding measurable goals
  • Experience with start-up environments or SaaS sales models
  • Salesforce experience required
  • Experience leading a team of sellers that manages a book of business is a plus
  • SANDLER Sales Methodology preferred, but not required

Our cash compensation range for this role ranges from $127,000 OTE per year to $165,226 OTE per year in Phoenix, Denver and most remote locations with a 60/40 Split in Base and Commission. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees.
