Job Title:         Full-Time Shelter Staff                  

Position Summary:

Shelter staff provide an oversight of the shelter and assist with the needs of each client.  This person will be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of homeless individuals who need transitional shelter.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome and record attendance for participants and monitor participants movement.
  • To orient new residents to all house procedures.
  • Provide a safe, friendly, supportive, and inviting environment.
  • Work compassionately with those who have difficulty engaging.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintain daily recordkeeping and reports as well as an accurate bed list.
  • Set up tables for meals, hand out bedding, clothing, and toiletries when necessary.
  • Ensure the facility is cleaned, and that participants have completed assigned chores.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary
  • Other duties needed to help drive our vision, and fulfill our mission, of “The Poor should never be treated poorly”.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field PREFERRED.
  • Equivalent work experience with social services and/or homeless programs a plus
