We are looking for an experienced technical writer to join us in the Spotfire User Experience and Technical Communication team.
Spotfire is a visual data science platform that empowers users to tackle complex problems that the human mind or computers can't solve alone. Through a mix of visualizations and calculations, our customers can engage deeply and directly with their data in a seamless experience that blends data wrangling and analytical workflows. World-leading organizations in High-Tech Manufacturing, Energy, and Life Sciences apply Spotfire to their toughest problems, to mission-critical processes, and to decision-making at the core of their business.
As a writer at Spotfire, you develop user documentation and design the UI microcopy for our products. You are involved throughout the development cycle and collaborate closely with UX designers, developers, testers, and other writers.
Your work targets a wide range of users, from scientists to system administrators, and ensures that our customers can understand, learn, and successfully use our software. Ideally, you love solving challenging usability issues just as much as you thrive on making sense of technical details.
What you will do
- Lead the effort to scope, design, and write UI texts and user documentation for the projects that your team works on; determine an effective content strategy, iteratively develop the content, and implement it in the final product.
- Actively contribute to the design and development process.
- Find opportunities to improve our help content and our software by reporting and fixing issues.
- Write release notes and take part in the release process, making sure that our help content is available to users.
Who you are
- You're a precise and impactful UX and technical writer who takes pride in crafting text that achieves a specific goal.
- You are good at grasping new concepts and quickly understanding complex functionality. Skilled at synthesizing information from various sources, like Jira tickets, design specifications, and conversations with developers and subject matter experts.
- Collaboration is key to your process. You proactively build relationships with developers and product managers, asking questions and iterating your work in a transparent manner.
- You take ownership. You don't just write what you're assigned; you see the bigger picture, identify what's missing, and take the initiative to make our content better.
- You actively reach out for feedback, and you are not afraid to voice your opinion in a constructive way.
- You have a master’s degree (preferably master of science) in a relevant field.
- 3+ years of experience working with technical writing in software development.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken, at a professional level.
- Proven ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation for highly technical domains.
- Cooperative mindset and good teamwork skills, you have a transparent process and build up effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Conversational Swedish language proficiency.
- Valid work permit for Sweden.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience authoring and managing documentation using DITA, Markdown, and HTML.
- Experience working with source code management systems and "docs as code".
- Experience with development environments, like Visual Studio.
- A strong interest in data visualization and data science.
