Five9 is expanding its Tax Team by adding a position for Senior Tax Manager – Indirect and Telecom Taxes. The Senior Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tax and regulatory-related functions, including sales, use, telecommunication taxes, along with various regulatory surcharges and fees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead indirect tax compliance and tax controversy matters
- Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memo on issues and position
- Work with Tax Team members and third-party preparer to manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual transaction tax filings
- Prepare and/or review various telecommunications gross receipts tax returns, or other internally-prepared filings
- Review in-house prepared Canada GST/HST and provincial returns
- Prepare and/or review tax accruals
- Prepare state and federal telecommunications regulatory filings, including 499-A/Q, State PSC and Canada CRTC filings
- Manage tax compliance calendar
- Manage customer State and Federal exemptions
- Review customer and vendor agreements to analyze US Indirect tax matters and support Billing, Sales and Legal as needed for tax information/validation
- Understand Five9 products and assign appropriate tax codes to new product SKUs
- Manage all tax audits, including timely responses to auditor requests, defending Five9’s tax positions with technical research or external counsel as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Master’s degree in Taxation and/or CPA a plus
- 10+ years Indirect tax experience in relevant industry and/or public accounting
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance requirements in SaaS and telecommunications industries
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners
- Hands on, quick learner with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills
Work Location: This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office is required.

Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

$100,400—$253,400 USD
