The Role
Design and build discrete-event, continuous/rate-based, and agent-based AnyLogic models of flexible pipe production to analyze bottlenecks, utilization, WIP, storage, downtime, and throughput. Produce scenarios, dashboards, and reports, integrate models with ML, collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams, maintain models, and support capacity planning and optimization with international collaboration and travel.
Summary Generated by Built In

We are seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer to design and develop dynamic simulation models for our flexible pipe production facility using AnyLogic. The role will focus on modeling complex manufacturing lines, continuous pipe production, material flow, machine utilization, storage reel capacities, downtime events, and throughput projections. The engineer will support production optimization, bottleneck analysis, and capacity planning through accurate simulation models and data-driven insights.

Responsibilities
  • Develop discrete-event, continuous/rate-based, and agent-based simulation models using AnyLogic.
  • Model flexible pipe manufacturing processes, including production lines, machines, rollers/reels, buffers, operators, and material flow.
  • Simulate continuous pipe production, line speeds, material consumption, reel transfers, and storage limitations.
  • Model production interruptions such as bobbin depletion, welding stops, reel changes, changeovers, restart delays, and machine downtime.
  • Analyze bottlenecks, machine utilization, WIP, storage capacity, throughput, and production constraints.
  • Create input parameters, scenarios, dashboards, charts, and output reports within AnyLogic.
  • Integrate with ML for iterating model behavior.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to validate assumptions and improve model accuracy.
  • Maintain and update simulation models based on changes in machinery, layout, process flow, or product specifications.
  • Regular collaboration with Denmark and international teams.
  • International travel required, including visits to Brazil or Denmark.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in simulation modeling, preferably for manufacturing or industrial systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AnyLogic simulation software.
  • Good understanding of DES, continuous/rate-based simulation, and hybrid modeling.
  • Experience with AnyLogic Process Modeling Library, agents, events, statecharts, parameters, functions, and custom logic.
  • Ability to translate real production processes and operational data into simulation parameters.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to present simulation results and improvement recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
