The Role
Lead QA for an enterprise wealth-management platform: design and execute test plans, write and run API and integration tests, debug multi-layer issues, improve test coverage, mentor engineers, review release notes, and use tools/automation to ensure product quality.
Summary Generated by Built In

The Senior QA Engineer is an integral member of an Engineering squad, analyzing and testing a high quality Vestmark product suite. The Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for reviewing functional requirements and user stories from internal stakeholders, designing test plans, writing test cases, and executing test strategies for our enterprise wealth management platform. You will be a champion of quality on our team, working to help elevate the work of those around you to meet the quality standards our clients expect. This is a hands-on role for someone who is curious, relentlessly thorough, and energized by solving complex problems in a high-stakes financial technology environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply deep expertise in specific product areas to ensure that all features meet documented acceptance criteria and client quality expectations
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans for complex features, including thorough web service and API-level testing
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and drive improvements proactively, collaborating with engineers and product owners to incorporate quality thinking early in the development cycle
  • Debug complex, multi-layered issues spanning the application, database, and integration layers — digging into root causes rather than stopping at the surface
  • Provide feedback on product performance and user experience
  • Serve as a quality mentor and go-to resource for Engineers on your squad and across the organization
  • Contribute to the review of product documentation and release notes for new versions
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Glean) to accelerate test planning, documentation, and root cause analysis
  • Contribute to the growth and development of our core values: We Before Me, Positive Energy, Knowledge Explorer, and Own It.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience, ideally with a focus in financial technology or a related domain
  • Strong web service and API testing experience — you are comfortable designing and executing tests at the REST API layer, reading API specs, and diagnosing failures
  • Experience working with a team of Software QA Engineers in both manual and automated testing
  • Microsoft SQL Server or similar DB experience; you should be able to retrieve and manipulate data to support test validation
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira, Zephyr, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, and Docker
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability — you don't stop at "it failed"; you dig in, connect the dots, and drive issues to resolution
  • Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn, grow professionally, and have a positive impact on the company, its culture, and its products
  • A genuine ownership mentality — you take initiative without being prompted and take pride in the quality of your work

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced in using AI tools, such as Claude Code, for all aspects of the QA practice. This includes activities such as test creation, impact analysis, test execution, bug analysis, reporting. Must have experience in an AI first environment
  • Experience testing with Postman or similar API testing tools
  • Integration testing experience: inbound file processing, outbound file creation, API testing, configuration testing
  • Experience with BETA, APL, FIX, IDC, Reuters, Morningstar, or Bloomberg
  • Experience with log collection and analysis, APM, and DB monitoring tools; Dynatrace a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve, and explain system-level issues affecting the application
  • Working knowledge of a scripting language; Python a plus
  • Experience with performance testing; Locust.io a plus
  • Ability to work across squads and disciplines to find equitable solutions to problems that arise

Education:

  • BS degree in Finance, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. MSCS is a plus
