Senior Engineering ManagerYour role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a design authority for an engineering discipline. Each day, you will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.

This role contributes to the Automation business within Process Industries across the India, Middle-East and Africa Region, delivering Power Management System (PMS), Substation Automation System (SAS), SCADA and Electrical integration solutions for Cement, Metals, Mining, Minerals, Material Handling, and Pulp & Paper industries. Key stakeholders include end customers, EPC/LSTK organizations, engineering consultants, project execution teams, automation and electrical engineering teams, system integrators, vendors, and internal business, sales, service, and operations functions.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Working with the customer to shape and deliver solutions while seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.
Creating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects and ensuring quality, timely implementation within the targeted cost.
Coordinating with relevant functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged, tested, installed, and commissioned.
Coaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects.
Qualifications for the role
You are highly skilled in Electrical Engineering, Power Management Systems (PMS), Substation Automation Systems (SAS), SCADA, EMS, Electrical Integration, and Automation solutions for the Cement, Metals, Mining, Minerals, Material Handling, and Pulp & Paper industries.
You have 8–10 years of experience in project electrical engineering, working with consulting organizations, EPC/LSTK companies, and mill builders on large-scale electrification and automation projects. You have hands-on experience with Cement Clinkerization, Grinding Units, WHRS, CPPs, HSMs, CRMs, Processing Lines, Mines, CHPs, and Long-Distance Conveyor systems.
You hold a First Class B.E./ B.Tech. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and have experience technically managing engineering consultants such as HOLTEC, DCPL, PENTA, MECON, CET, DASTURCO, TCE etc. across complex industrial projects.
You possess enhanced knowledge of and are highly adept in HV/MV/LV Switchgear, MCCs, IMCCs, Power / Distribution / Converter / Lighting Transformers, Battery and Chargers, Standalone VVVF Drives, LRS, Transformers, Cables, Luminaires & Lamps etc.
Hands on experience on international distributed electrical integration and automation applications, including applicable communication protocols like IEC61850, OPC, Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet & Profibus communication protocols, IED Engineering and commissioning in electrical protection relay
You have a demonstrated track record and proven experience in electrical system engineering for process plants, including power systems from 220 kV to 110 V AC and 220/110 V DC, equipment engineering, substation design, earthing systems, cable routing, lightning protection, and illumination engineering.
Experience in preparing, verifying, testing, commissioning, FAT, and SAT of PMS and SAS solutions is highly valued.
You are experienced in power system integration design, system automation design, HMI implementation, and the independent commissioning of ABB Power Management Systems for captive power plants and Substation Automation solutions of industrial facilities.
You are at ease communicating in English and effectively collaborating with customers, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, vendors, site teams, and multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
