Job Purpose and Impact
- The Senior Windows Desktop Engineer is responsible for delivering technical execution and lifecycle management of Windows endpoint services. This role ensures secure, reliable, and efficient operation of Windows devices across the enterprise by managing imaging, patching, software deployment, and compliance. The position requires deep expertise in Windows operating systems, endpoint management tools, and automation to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
- Windows Endpoint Services: Deliver technical execution of Windows endpoint services, including imaging, patching, software deployment, and device compliance.
- Core Load Management: Own and maintain the Windows core load process, ensuring consistent deployment across supported hardware platforms.
- Tool Administration: Administer and optimize SCCM/MECM, SCORCH, Intune, and Group Policy Objects (GPO) for provisioning, compliance, and lifecycle management.
- Tier 4 Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for complex Windows endpoint issues, including OS-level failures and deployment errors.
- Security & Vulnerability Remediation: Design and execute patching and vulnerability remediation strategies to ensure endpoint security and stability.
- Hardware Evaluation: Support hardware evaluation and selection by testing compatibility and performance of new device models.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement: Develop automation scripts and contribute to engineering backlog for improving endpoint automation and user experience.
- Collaboration: Partner with product and client experience teams to resolve issues, improve service quality, and align with roadmap priorities.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years advanced knowledge of Windows OS architecture, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- 5+ years experience with MECM, Intune, SCORCH, and GPO management
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell preferred)
- SQL and PowerBI query and reporting skills preferred but not required
- VB / VB.NET scripting skills preferred but not required
- Experience with patching strategies, vulnerability remediation, and compliance enforcement
Recommended Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Client or Modern Desktop Administrator
- ITIL Foundation Certification
