ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a senior Risk Product Manager to own the strategy and execution for the risk platform that powers Trustly's payment guarantee. This is a high-ownership role: you'll shape the roadmap, partner directly with Data Science and Engineering on model integration and architecture, and drive decisions that affect approval rates, loss exposure, and guarantee economics across our merchant portfolio.
You'll need genuine domain depth — the ability to read a decision engine configuration, pressure-test a model threshold, and translate an ACH return pattern into a product requirement on the same day. Strategic thinking and hands-on rigor aren't optional here; they're the job.
What you'll do:
- Platform strategy and roadmap. Define and execute the product direction for risk infrastructure — decisioning, model integration, rules management, and real-time controls — with clear prioritization across competing business needs.
- AI/ML integration. Work closely with Data Science to translate model outputs into operational product decisions: threshold design, feature requirements, monitoring frameworks, and feedback loops that close the loop between predictions and outcomes.
- Technical fluency. Develop deep working knowledge of system architecture, data flows, and tooling so you can identify gaps, unblock engineering, and write requirements that don't need to be rewritten.
- Guarantee economics. Understand the approval/loss tradeoff at the segment level and make principled calls about where to tighten, loosen, or differentiate risk controls to optimize performance across the portfolio.
- Cross-functional alignment. Serve as the connective tissue between Risk, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and Sales — translating complex risk capabilities into language each stakeholder can act on.
- Delivery. Own the backlog, lead sprint planning with your engineering counterpart, and maintain a high-quality bar on story definition and acceptance criteria.
Who you are:
- Domain expert. 4–7 years in product management with direct experience in risk, fraud, or financial decisioning. You understand ACH or digital payments mechanics es, dispute windows, and settlement timing —not just conceptually.
- AI/ML fluent. You've worked alongside data alize models — not just consuming outputs, butshaping feature sets, defining thresholds, and building monitoring into product design.
- Technically rigorous. Comfortable in SQL, fture, and capable of engaging in technicaldesign discussions without needing everything translated. You learn systems by using them.
- Analytically sharp. You write well, speak precisely, and calibrate for audience — a fraud escalation brief and an exec strategy memo require different registers, and you can write both.
- Clear communicator. You write well, speak pr audience — a fraud escalation brief and anexec strategy memo require different registers, and you can write both.
- High judgment under ambiguity. You've made consequential calls with incomplete information and can articulate your reasoning. You don't wait for consensus to form a view.
Skills Required
- 4-7 years product management experience with direct risk, fraud, or financial decisioning experience
- Deep understanding of ACH and digital payments mechanics, dispute windows, and settlement timing
- Experience working alongside Data Science/AI teams to integrate models, define thresholds, and build monitoring/feedback loops
- Comfortable with SQL for analysis and technical discussions
- Technical fluency with system architecture, data flows, and ability to write clear product requirements and acceptance criteria
- Experience owning product backlog and leading sprint planning / agile delivery
- Strong analytical writing and communication skills tailored to technical and executive audiences
- Ability to make high-judgment decisions under ambiguity

What We Do
At Trustly, we envision a world in which online payments are fast, simple and secure for everyone — merchants, consumers and banks alike. One hundred years ago, cash was king. People got paid in cash, carried it in their wallets, and bought things with it at the local store. Payment was easy. Oh, how the times have changed. Today, our salaries are deposited straight into our bank accounts and we shop online, from merchants all around the world. So why is it so hard to pay straight from our bank accounts? For consumers, paying online should be as easy as sliding a bill across the counter. And accepting payments and issuing refunds should be the least of merchants’ worries. Credit cards, debit cards, e-wallets, invoices and cash-on-delivery are all middlemen levying fees, debt and interest for the simple task of moving money from one person to another. At Trustly, we work hard to make online payments easy.
Why Work With Us
