Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Network Engineer will design transformation, deployment, automation, operation, and own Cargill's software defined network infrastructure with an initial focus on migration of legacy networking infrastructure to modern software defined networking infrastructure. In this role you will provide thought leadership and actively engage in a network transformation project to migrate legacy physical networking infrastructure to Modern software defined networking infrastructure to architect, build, secure, and maintain.
Key Accountabilities
- NETWORK SOLUTIONS: Designs, implements and maintains network solutions to meet organizational needs, including creating network diagrams and blueprints.
- NETWORK DEVICES CONFIGURATION: Sets up and configures various complex network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private networks and software defined networking to maintain optimal performance and security.
- TROUBLESHOOTING & DIAGNOSTICS: Performs complex troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining network reliability.
- NETWORK MAINTENANCE: Leads routine maintenance and updates on network systems, including applying patches, service packs and security configurations.
- PERFORMANCE MONITORING & OPTIMIZATION: Monitors network performance, maintains system availability and reliability, and makes necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
- SECURITY MEASURES: Sustains network security by leading the implementation of appropriate measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and encryption technologies.
- DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING: Develops and implements disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of network failures.
- NETWORK AUTOMATION: Develops and implements automation and tools to streamline network operations, including configuration management, device provisioning and software updates.
- TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP: Provides technical leadership and influences the adoption of software development and infrastructure as code practices to design, build and support software defined network capabilities. Leads expert-level problem resolution across network teams to remove roadblocks.
- ENGINEERING COMMUNITY & MENTORSHIP: Coaches and mentors engineers, shares emerging technical trends, and develops modern skills and engineering best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure services within a large-scale, distributed IT environment
- 4+ years of experience in the design, deployment, and management of enterprise DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) solutions, including high availability and disaster recovery implementations
- Expert-level knowledge of DNS architecture and protocols, including authoritative and recursive DNS, DNSSEC, GSLB, DDNS, DHCP failover, IPAM, and network services automation
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Infoblox environments, including Grid architecture, NIOS platform administration, reporting/analytics, DNS traffic control, and API integrations
- Ability to develop low-level design (LLD) documentation for enterprise DDI and network service architectures
- Knowledge of automation and scripting for DNS/DHCP/IPAM management using Python, REST APIs, Ansible, Bash, or Terraform preferred
- Working experience with source code management and automation tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with Agile teams, leveraging modern engineering tools and practices to manage team backlog, planned work, and issue tracking
- Experience providing technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers
- Relevant certifications such as Infoblox Certified Professional (ICP), Infoblox Certified Expert (ICE), or equivalent certifications preferred
Additional Applicant Information
The expected salary for this position is $130,000- $155,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law. This role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
