Join us in working on a top company initiative expanding Salesforce into new markets. Our team, part of the Salesforce on Alibaba Engineering organization, develops critical foundational services that power Salesforce’s infrastructure and preserve customer trust in Salesforce’s products.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join us as a front line engineering manager. This manager will coach and lead a team of engineers responsible for highly scalable backend services and infrastructure that enable Salesforce’s ecosystem of products to be deployed onto multiple Cloud environments. We use a variety of programming languages as well as cutting edge technologies towards the design, development and delivery of these services.
Your Impact:

  • Manage, mentor and lead a team of approximately 8-10 engineers

  • Support the development and growth of direct reports through regular check-ins and performance evaluations

  • Lead the efficient delivery of projects and releases, ensuring high quality releases

  • Lead planning and prioritization, balancing speed with structure for a fast-paced engineering team

  • Work with Technical Program Managers to ensure releases meet business objectives and timelines

  • Guide the team in solving complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance

  • Setup and participate in the team’s on-call rotation to keep services operational and highly available

  • Collaborate with peers within an Agile and highly dynamic team environment

  • Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making

Desired Skills:

  • Experience leading diverse teams of software engineers as an Engineering manager

  • Experience leading complex engineering projects that cross engineering teams

  • Experience as a hands-on software engineer and strength in software development fundamentals to understand the engineering work that is going on in your team

  • Experience building large scale, highly available distributed systems on Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Alibaba, or Azure

  • A genuine passion for working with people and guiding the success and growth of people you work with

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills

  • Prior experience in Security Engineering such as PKI, Secrets Management, and IAM a plus

  • Prior experience with Cloud infrastructure automation such as Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Terraform a plus
