This position can be based in South Asia or Indonesia.
Under the direction of the Asia Regional Vice President, provides overall leadership and management of national leadership teams in the Region. Oversees implementation of the regional strategy (including growth and expansion) in alignment with Global Program's strategy yet adapts to the region's context as necessary. Works effectively with the Regional Leadership Team to ensure alignment and collaboration across all service functions with country leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acts as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children. Understands mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the organization. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
- Under the direction of the Regional Vice President, guides and leads the assigned leaders in the region, full-cycle talent management of hiring, coaching, development, corrective action and termination, following standard corporate processes.
- Establishes and promotes a healthy organizational culture within which Compassion's organization will operate in the countries under his or her responsibility. By personal example and intentional direction, encourages the professional growth among the staff through exemplary living, mentoring, teaching and coaching. Creates an environment where servant leadership and a passion for learning permeate the sphere of influence.
- Works with the Regional Vice President to ensure field implementation of Regional strategy based on Global Program’s strategy, expansion and growth models. Adapts Global Program’s strategy to the Region’s context as necessary. Provide strategic direction to National Directors.
- Works effectively with the Regional Leadership Team to ensure good change management, alignment and collaboration across the service functions. In liaison with the region's Director of Program Operations, ensures compliance with Compassion’s policies and legal requirements across the Region. In liaison with Global Program Development and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Teams, ensures program quality and compliance with Compassion’s Program Philosophy and outcome framework.
- Functions as a corporate leader for the countries under his or her responsibility. Communicates Compassion's vision effectively to a broad range of entities such as governments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's), missions, local partners, and potential and current donors. Represents and advocates Compassion's values, directions, and constraints among field staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Culture
- Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience
- 10+ years relevant experience leading teams in the humanitarian/global development NGO sector.

- Passionate about sharing and deepening other’s commitments to releasing children from poverty.
- Rich and diverse understanding of international development and cultures, especially those within the region.
- Highly skilled in people and business management.
- Ability to work and excel in a collaborative workplace. Self-motivated, innovative.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate upward and downward to create alignment between regional and field offices.
