About Us:

Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Following the mass increase in depression and anxiety, the need for accessibility is more important than ever. To make our vision for mental healthcare a reality, we’re building a team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Since launching in February 2021, we’ve empowered more than ten thousand therapists and hundreds of thousands of clients across the country and insurance landscape. We’ve raised more than $178mm of funding from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, and others.

The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to build design systems, motion and interaction patterns that power consumer-grade product experiences at scale. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering and is responsible for translating our design vision into scalable, high-quality components and tooling that accelerate product development across the organization.

You will partner closely with designers and product teams to craft polished, consistent, and accessible experiences and with engineers to ensure these patterns are implemented with technical excellence. You’ll contribute both to design system architecture and hands-on implementation, building the foundations that enable every team to ship beautiful, consistent UI without regressions or re-invention.

This is a foundational role for building a world-class product surface and elevating our craft as we scale.
What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Design, build, and maintain our core design system, including components, tokens, interaction patterns, and documentation.
  • Develop scalable UI frameworks that empower engineers to ship consistent, consumer-grade experiences quickly.
  • Partner directly with product designers to translate UI/UX patterns into reusable, production-ready components.
  • Prototype and experiment rapidly, validating concepts before they become part of the system.
  • Lead frontend best practices across accessibility, performance, animation, layout, and responsiveness.
  • Improve UI consistency and reduce regressions through systematic design, strong abstraction, and thoughtful tooling.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate design system components into workflows and codebases.
  • Create documentation, guidelines, and governance processes that help teams adopt and extend the system effectively.
  • Raise the overall quality bar for visual polish, interaction fidelity, and frontend craft across the company.
You’ll Be a Good Fit If:
  • 5+ years of frontend or UX engineering experience, ideally in consumer or product-focused companies.
  • Strong ability to build scalable component libraries, design systems, or reusable UI frameworks.
  • Excellent sense of visual and interaction design, with an eye for spacing, typography, motion, polish, and details.
  • Fluency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, Next, React, CSS systems, and component architecture.
  • Experience collaborating closely with designers throughout the entire product development process.
  • Ability to prototype quickly and translate ambiguous ideas into tangible interfaces.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and web performance considerations.
  • A systems mindset seeing patterns, simplifying complexity, and designing for long-term reuse.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence product direction and UI standards.
  • A passion for building delightful, consumer-grade user experiences.
  • Founder’s mindset - ownership, speed, scrappiness, resilience, bias toward action.
Why This Role Matters:
As we scale our product and engineering organization, the need for consistent, high-quality UI becomes critical. A dedicated Design Engineer ensures we can continue to ship beautiful, intuitive experiences, while giving every team the tools and frameworks they need to move faster without compromising quality.

This role will be foundational in shaping our product’s visual identity, strengthening our design-engineering partnership, and building a consumer-grade experience that sets the industry standard.

What We Do

We see technology not as a layer on top of care, but as the connective tissue that helps it grow.

Grow Therapy is an online therapy platform that helps you find a therapist who gets you—and takes your insurance. Grow was founded to create end-to-end systems that make therapy easier on both sides: helping therapists launch and grow thriving private practices by removing the friction of credentialing, billing, and insurance, so they can focus on care, and helping clients actually find and afford it.

Our founders come from Harvard Medical School, Stripe, and Blackstone, and bring Grow’s mission to life from the inside out, pairing bold vision with a culture of balance, belonging, and whole-person wellness.

We believe change starts by empowering therapists. Grow’s smart platform helps independent providers build sustainable practices by handling credentialing, billing, and referrals, so they can focus on what matters. With business tools, a supportive clinical community, and opportunities like CE events and speaking engagements, Grow helps therapists practice with more autonomy and less administrative strain, reducing no-shows, increasing demand, and creating more space for care.

We then help people find those licensed therapists who reflect their lived experience, whether that means shared racial or cultural background, language, identity, or life stage. Our platform makes it easy to search by specialty, availability, and insurance so clients can book care that fits their life and budget.

Today, Grow supports thousands of therapists and prescribers across all 50 states and has delivered care to over 1 million clients. We’re in-network with 100+ major insurers, including Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, Medicaid, and UnitedHealthcare, and have raised more than $178M from leading investors like Sequoia Capital, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, TCV, Transformation Capital, SignalFire, and Plus Capital.

We believe in benefits that support the whole you. That means two hours each week to care for your mental health, a $600 annual therapy stipend, $500 learning and $300 wellness stipends, a $1,000 remote office setup, free in-office meals, and flexible PTO with a paid December recharge week.

We’re building the future of mental healthcare and that starts with how we care for our own team. If you’re excited by bold challenges and meaningful impact, Grow with us.

Why Work With Us

At Grow Therapy, we believe well-being isn’t just a perk—it’s part of how we work. From clinicians to engineers, designers and support, every voice helps shape the care we build. Our mission-driven team is rethinking mental health care, supported by flexible PTO, paid winter recharge, mental health breaks, therapy stipends, and wellness perks.
